My nephew was transferred to Perdue for rehab. Some nurses are nice, the PT therapists excellent. Most ancillary support very rude to patients and relatives. This is a nursing home, most patients do not receive any visitors (unfortunately). But those who goes for rehab ARE NOT nursisng home semi abandoned patients. They treat the visitors of those patients like dirt, at times I thought the employees want to live us alone for them to do what they want. My nephew is an orphan of father, only son of his ingle mom. She lives for him and her only joy is to go to see him after work. We live one hour from the place, when she gets there she is asked to wait in a patio to fill forms that take a good 5 to 7 minutes for a 20 minute visit. The place is empty, no visitors for the elderly resident however they deny 5 extra minutes to the relatives who care. The tip of the iceberg was Mother’s Day, my nephew was allowed only 20 minutes to see his mother, no exception for thi one a year important day for mother’s. She was crying and the answer was “ now you are having an attitude, I may deny you the visit all together” No compassion , I’m not mentioning names to avoid them to lose their jobs but I ask the administration to keep an eye in the way they treat good families who care about their patients and they time from their busy schedules ti visit them. It gives a moral boost to the patients to know they are loved, that makes them heal faster.

Perdue staff are amazing! They show compassion and care about all the patients. The nursing staff are attentive. The patients I’ve met have expressed happiness. During the pandemic this home has been the most efficient in keeping the infection low. The staff in every department are always willing to help and care about all patients to keep a smile on their faces. There is a meeting to maintain update of family every few months and the doctor is available to answer questions.

The reviews and intake were a promising sign for my mother. The resources and care from a medical science end were adequate. However the treatment of my mother (age 58) was near criminal and feels like something on a news reel. Aides consistently cursed at her, and would reply to her requests with statements like “why you are going to die anyway”. Some of these happened while I was speaking with her via speaker phone so this is not just hearsay.
