Comfortable Living at Sunrise of Sunnyvale
Located outside of San Jose on the San Francisco Peninsula, Sunrise of Sunnyvale offers the best of both worlds. It’s nearby major amenities like the Westfield Valley Fair Mall and the San Jose Museum of Art but also boasts plenty of escapes into nature, like the Baylands Nature Preserve and the Rancho San Antonio County Park & Open Space Preserve. Its central location also puts it near the El Camino Hospital and all the physicians it serves.
Sunrise of Sunnyvale features walking paths shaded by flowering magnolias and serene garden patios mixed with the excitement of activities designed to nurture the mind, body and soul. Mornings often start with walking club or cookie baking and end with current events discussions and inspirational readings. Afternoons are for live music, popcorn popping and exercise (Weights & Bands and SING FIT!, to name a couple). Evenings find residents playing trivia, watching the evening news and attending themed social events. Everything is led by designated care managers, who become trusted friends of the residents as they look after their needs.
Three meals a day are served at the main dining room with Sunrise Signature Dining menus freshly prepared by professional chefs. The Sunrise of Sunnyvale Bistro is also open 24/7; it serves up pastries, coffee, tea and cucumber water, plus a sitting area for socializing.
A Variety of Floor Plans at Sunrise of Sunnyvale
You’ll find four assisted living floor plans at Sunrise of Sunnyvale: studios, one-bedrooms, two-room suites and Companion Suites. The latter allows two residents to share a two-bedroom apartment for friendship and shared expenses. All floor plans include kitchens, emergency call buttons, stand-up showers and weekly maid and laundry service.
Specialty Alzheimer’s and memory care is available here, too. Residents with dementia live in a special neighborhood called Reminiscence, a calm, secure place next to dining and living areas for easy navigation and socialization. Life Enrichment Managers work one-on-one with families and residents to design a care plan that values the person’s needs, helps them with daily tasks and gives them engaging memory-focused activities.
FamilyAssets offers links above that can help you get more information, understand pricing and schedule a tour.

Sunrise of Walnut Creek wasn't a good fit for us. It's designed for single people (I'm looking for a place for both my parents). They only had two couples living there and all of their rooms are studios, so they're way too small. It's a little older and a little more dated. Plus, they're designed to accommodate people with more medical issues. So, it felt a little bit more like a nursing home. Other than that, I liked that they have a music guy coming in and that the dining area was adequate and felt nice. The memory care staff was excellent and my tour guide was knowledgeable.

They had a lot of turnover when we got there which has been frustrating. We have had struggles getting care staff on board with things like consistent showers. It has taken some time for things to get straightened out. The front desk reception staff are always very kind and helpful and supportive of trying to remedy some of the situations we are having. They are on the ball and I think that is because they have all been there a long time.

My loved one was not here for long but it served its purpose for while we needed it.

It is a really good community for my loved one. I feel my loved one is being taken care of well here. They are lacking a credit card payment portal and a variety of entertainment. The staff are open to any questions or concerns I have via phone, email, or in person. The food has been very good for my loved one. There has been a new chef that has been hired. The food is low in salt with a variety of options for the residents.

We toured here for my mom. Everything was fine. They had three studio options, and the rooms and the bathrooms were nice. I would have liked more garden area. The staff was nice and informative. I asked about everything, and she shared about everything. Someone played piano during social hour. They were serving snacks. We actually got to visit a resident. We saw the dining area, but we didn't have food. She did offer to have us come back and try a meal. The place was clean. The second story opened to below. There was a seating area. There was a courtyard, too. To me, it was small, but it was pretty, and it had roses.
