My mother has moved into Haven Homes. It's stunning. It's beautiful. You walk in, and there's a nice reception desk on the right, and then a fireplace and chairs, and then the whole dining room is straight ahead with some nice tables. There's a room to the right of that, which is like a gathering room. Outside, they have nice lights and a deck. It's a very homey feeling. The staff is outstanding. They have a super beautiful sanctuary and a chapel. Everybody's so kind. The staff is amazing. They were voted number one last year for assisted living. They have bingo and movie night, they sing and ask questions, they have Bible study, they get their nails done, and they take them on field trips. They don't take a lot of field trips. They don't have their own bus because when they rebuilt right in COVID, they ended up spending more money on the building. They have buses that come when they take them on field trips now and then. The food is good. The value is really good. I've looked everywhere and it's probably the lowest price.

Haven Homes is fairly new, which is nice. The staff were awesome. They introduced me to some of the residents who were doing jigsaw puzzles. I had a really good time there, and I think my in-laws would have a good time, too, in that environment. It seems like they're doing a good job of keeping people engaged. They are one of the top contenders right now. I would give them high marks on atmosphere, activities, and amenities. It is a very nice facility with great people. I like the residents; they seem to like the place, too.

Should it be needed, they also offer assisted care and have a standalone memory care unit. They also have a short-term rehab unit fully-staffed with nursing. They have the usual activities like book clubs, gardening clubs, and bible studies. They have what they call a bistro, and they also have a coffee shop kind of area.

I think both my dad and my mother are receiving good care at Haven Homes. The food is pretty good and it's new and clean with enough space. They're probably adequately staffed, but they just had a turnover, which I understood. It happens in a lot of places. Also, there are not a whole lot of activities right now for the memory care unit. I know that my parents do a few things, there's bingo and physical activity class, but we wished they had more things to do there.

They are not trained for people with advanced Alzheimer's. I thought the staff was very friendly, but they all appear to be in such a hurry. I don't know if that's because they're short staffed? But they don't slow down and take time with the residents who require more time. I thought the facility itself was lovely. They have a separate unit for memory care, and it's very small, maybe 12-15 beds. If it were properly staffed, I would have like a bigger space since my loved likes to wander. I just wish there were more walking space for those in memory care. But the cost is pretty standard, in line with what other places charge.

Haven Homes was very nice. It's very new. Everything looks new, clean, and modern. All the apartments we looked at were very clean. The one that we kind of wanted would have worked very well for my husband's father the way it was arranged. In my mind that was the one I preferred. The people that we met were very friendly. Everything was explained clearly. We knew everything upfront. The costs especially were very concise and clear. You know what the costs were going to be right away. Being it was earlier on in the COVID thing, so there weren't a lot of activities. The staff showed us the dining room and where people could go outside eventually. Right now, they could come down to eat, but of course, they were at separate tables. They showed us the chapel, the exercise room, and a library. It was very nice, but at that point, there weren't a lot of activities going on.
