Small community, In need of upgrades.
I''m a home caregiver and I have a client whom I visit. Really good food, comfortable living quarters, gaited entrance with security. The staff seem genuinely interested in making sure you are happy, seems like a good work environment too.

My parents have lived at Gwynedd Estates for 2 years, in a 2 BR, 2 BA apartment. I give an A+ star to every single part of Gwynedd: the staff, the people who live there, the value for money, the individual attention, the caring and patience and thoroughness of staff. I would stay here myself when I''m older, in a New York minute! I''ve stayed in their apartment twice for a week each, besides interacting with staff before and after. My parents are 90 and just moved to the Memory Unit because of my mom. ACTS Retirement Community (who owns Gwynedd and other nearby retirement communities) arranged for them to have two connecting rooms. The top of the organization sets the tone, and ACTS is just amazing. They are a non-profit. The care they give, the way they make sure there is no waste so prices are kept reasonable (I''m drawing this from the way they budget for the cafeteria and formal dining hall - there''s always just enough food - plus having compared ACTS and Gwynedd to nearby retirement communities, in price and kindness of staff). My parents started in independent living. With their permission, ACTS transferred them from Gwynedd Estates to Normandy Farms, that has a memory care unit. Gwynedd is the smallest of the ACTS communities, so the most tightly knit community. All the residents I talked to loved it - they said the thing they loved best thing is the other people who live there. Gwynedd and ACTS will also provide nursing care later if that is needed. My brother and I made a very fortunate choice with Gwynedd Estates. We did hours of research and visiting other communities, but you''re never really certain until your parents actually live there. Oh I think they also allow you to leave after something like 90 days if you''re not happy. I wish all places were run like this. Again, A+++ star !
