I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Berryville, and I was thoroughly impressed. It was clean. The staff was extremely helpful. The people that were living there all seemed happy and pleasant. I met quite a few of them. As we walked around, the person who was giving me the tour knew most of them by name, and they had conversations. They let me look at several rooms. Everything was clean, neat, and organized. The staff was very active and helpful. I felt very comfortable. If I needed to make a decision, I would have certainly put my uncle in that place. I noticed quite a few things. They had an activity schedule and they showed me some of the things. My uncle is not that social, so that to me wasn't a driving factor other than seeing that other people seemed to be enjoying themselves and had plenty of activities that they could participate in. I saw the schedule, I saw a couple of activities going on and I was very, very satisfied that these folks looked like they were having a good time. Plus, there were trips that were planned. I didn't think my uncle would be taking any of the trips, so I didn't dwell on those other amenities, but it was nice to know that they were there, and it was nice to see other people enjoying what they were involved in at the time I was visiting. I saw the menu and I saw what was available and what they were willing to provide my uncle if he were there. I spoke with the chef, and I was very satisfied with the options and the willingness to provide him with what he would find interesting for the menu. They were very flexible from the menu point of view. I also spoke with the physical therapist and another person, everyone I met was outstanding in my opinion. I didn't have much to compare it to, but they explained all the details and all the options. It seemed like a lot of money, but they all are. Based on my other research, Commonwealth Senior Living at Berryville was certainly competitive and maybe even on the lower side of the cost. It looked to me like they could provide my uncle with whatever care he needed.

I loved Commonwealth Senior Living at Berryville when we toured it. My problem was with the nurse's evaluation. She decided that she needed to contact the corporate. Nobody from the corporate got back to her. I called down there several times to find out if my mother-in-law was going to be accepted and at 4:35, I was told, "No, we can't accept her. We don't have the staffing." which is not my problem. It's a staffing issue to take care of somebody that's total care, which my mother-in-law is. When they took us around, the salesperson even introduced me to her potential roommate who's in a wheelchair, but apparently can get herself in the wheelchair. My mother-in-law needed a Hoyer lift and they don't do that. If you were able to take care of yourself, the facility would be good, but if you're in the shape like she is then it's not. The director of sales was very good at what she does. I was very excited about the possibility of that working, but it didn't. If they had told us earlier, we could have made other arrangements.

Commonwealth Senior Living in Berryville does not provide daily personal care and hygiene for my mother, she wears the same clothes day after day and sits in urine and stool in her brief which rarely gets changed. It's sad and disappointing to see such lack of care for a human being

Commonwealth Senior living in Berryville does not provide personal care and hygiene for my mother. She wears the same clothes day after day and sits in urine and stool every day because she doesn't receive help in changing her brief. It's sad and disappointing to see a human being treated this way, a complete disregard for her care and dignity.
