I don’t like to post negative stuff but this is unacceptable. I post as a warning to others in hopes that no one else suffers in a nursing home as my mom has the last few weeks. This is good Shepherd Village in Springfield, Ohio. This is her stuff in the foyer of that facility where staff piled it when they learned on Wednesday she would move on Friday. Everyone who came to visit had to walk by this pile of mess. :( I know it’s just stuff but this is also how people there have been treated. The home was sold in March and has been in decline since. It was operated by a local family for many years now it’s cooperate out of NY. Over the last month, we have reached out multiple times to the director. When she finally returned our call she didn’t want to address our concerns just kept saying “that’s not my job”. Well whose job is it and we will contact them? Would not tell us. We were eventually able to get her supervisor’s email from a nurse. We have seen other patients treated poorly and Moms health has declined. She is in her new home as of Friday. Doing well. If you live near Springfield Ohio be cautious if you consider this home. If you visit people in a nursing home, be proactive, look around, advocate for them if need be. My heart hurts that mom had to go thru this. We did contact Ombudsman several times. Hopefully, they will assist others there that need to get out. I will say that there were a few staff people who went out of their way to take care of the clients. Including: laundresses, janitors, maintenance, some nurse assists and a few very sweet nurses. Kudos to those of you working in facilities like this that love on the "least of those" in our society. Thank you.

I have the pleasure of working with Nancy Lacey, of Good Sheppard Village. She visits the 2 apartment buildings I work in, to share information about the services Good Sheppard has to offer with my residents if they find themselves in need of rehabilitation or a different living arrangement in the future. She always does an activity or education program for the residents enjoyment. Last month, she was able to dedicate a coffee bar, sponsored by Good Sheppard, to the apartment building. The residents, and,I sure enjoy it and appreciate their generosity to the community.

My mother was a patient at Good Shepherd Village until she passed away. The Owner and all the staff treated her like family. They provided her with home cooked meals. They took her out to lunch, Young''s dairy, Bowling and so much more. The Owner would buy every Resident a Christmas gift and all the staff would contribute and buy them an additional present. I could not imagine my mother living at any other facility that truly cares and treats your family like their own family.

I just want to share our experience with Good Shepherd. I have never seen more caring staff and owners! They advertise family owned and operated. They mean that! They treat everyone with such special individualized care. Right down to the hand picked Christmas gifts each resident receives. I''ve personally watched some of the staff hold someone''s hand and listen intently to a story I''m sure they heard many times already. They ordered special meals just for my mom when she wanted a "big salad" with all her favorite toppings! I miss hearing the adventures of trips bowling and to Young''s Dairy!! Thank you all from the office staff, owner, Director of Nursing and everyone else for the wonderful care! You''re all in our hearts.

I was a resident for 4 1/2 months, recovering from a serious illness. I went from having to be hoisted out of bed to a wheelchair to being able to walk!!! Needless to say, I couldn’t have done this without the meticulous care I received. When I entered the facility I was extremely malnourished, weak and cognitively compromised. Due to the excellent care plan, I received excellent physical, occupational and speech therapies. My progress was all carefully monitored by the fabulous nursing staff. The owner is also very involved and “hands on”. The CNAs are friendly and caring. Oh, I should mention I’m a retired nurse from Florida!!
