My mother recently toured your facility. She will never attend as long as I have anything to say about it (I am her daughter). She was told in order to take her 10 yr old cat with her she would need to put down a $1,000 deposit (acceptable) and also to have her declawed (absolutely unacceptable). I am a 21 yr veterinary technician and will tell you that what you are proposing to people and their cats is abhorrent and down right cruel. Declawing is removing the claw at the first joint, an amputation just like a finger at the first joint, which requires learning how to re-walk and some cats never recover...especially elderly cats. Also the most common side effect after this horrible procedure is litterbox avoidance which in turn would cause I’m sure much more damage to your precious carpets that you are trying to protect in the first place. This is because the litter feels painful on their tender feet and they associate this going forward. Many vets are refusing to perform this procedure and several states are passing laws to make it illegal (NY just did). Shame on you for having this in your contract and forcing these elderly folks to choose between causing extreme pain to their beloved family member or having to part with them by giving them to a family member. Even if my mother chose to give her cat to me, I will advocate for her to choose another facility. Another other facility.
