My aunt recently moved into Everest at Oceanside, and I am beyond impressed with the community. At our tour, and every visit since, the warmth and care we felt was profound compared to other places visited, made so by the friendly staff and cozy aesthetic. My aunt''s transition wasn''t an easy one - she was very much against the move initially, not feeling she was ready for assisted living. Edgar Ayala, the Director who guided our journey, made her feel so welcomed and comfortable, and helped her come to her own realization of the benefits of a new lifestyle at Everest. Cecilia, the housekeeper on her floor, Tee, her nurse, and front desk and maintenance personnel, all played a huge role in welcoming her and smoothing out the rough parts of her transition. Multiple staff members, and especially Edgar, have gone above and beyond my expectations, and have shown just how passionate they are for caring for their residents, and my aunt. I also feel great about the value my aunt is getting for her money. I''m so grateful she landed here.

Everest at Oceanside is a great community! The ambiance as soon as you walk into the community can not be replicated, it''s natural, and comes from residents, all staff as well as Directors/Managers. I have seen care staff/med techs and Management go above and beyond for our beloved residents. Not only that but our housekeeping, maintenance, activities, marketing team and dietary department ALWAYS make sure our residents are always taken care of, adding personalization and love to each and every resident. We retain our employees and are fully staffed! We all work as a team with one particular goal that is for our residents to be in a safe, and caring community. We ensure our community is home! Still have not received a refund for services not rendered after speaking with the president of one of the parent companies, over a month ago assuring me that it was company policy to refund if someone goes out of the community. We were initially very happy as it was a family environment with many long-time staff members and long-time residents. But it became apparent that the new ownership seems more concerned with bottom line and cutting costs. That said its probably one of the most affordable in the area. You get what you pay for. Any reviews prior to December 2022 should be taken with a grain of salt. This is not the same place. We were quite happy with assisted living and then memory care but after they sold the care went way downhill and they did not live up to their care contract. Unknown to us, bathing went from twice per week to maybe twice in a month. My parent was not receiving medications as ordered by the doctor. At one point it seemed half the residents had visible bruises. Activities have also been cut. The devoted staff seemed to try their best but told us how short-staffed they are still in 2023. Management refuses to follow-up in a timely manner.

Unfortunately, this was a wonderful place when it was Merrill Gardens but since it was sold and became Everest, the care that my loved one has received has gone down hill. Promises made about minimal changes haven't been kept. I have read some previous recent reviews with the same experience. I am concerned that my loved one is not receiving the same level of care as in the past. Very disappointing and very concerned.
