The Cedar Village Assisted Living & Memory Care community in Salem, Oregon offers highly-rated senior care, spacious senior living facilities, and a high satisfaction rating among independent living and assisted living residents. Residents can receive medication management, assistance with their activities of daily living, and Alzheimer’s and dementia care among other special care services during their stay at Cedar Village. The facility places special attention on people with Alzheimer’s, offering compassionate care and round-the-clock assistance for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. In addition to their long-term care programs, many seniors come to the facility for their respite care as they take a break from receiving in-home care. If a person’s primary caregiver (who provides in-home care) needs time away from their duties, the person receiving care may consider a retirement community like Cedar Village to fill in the gaps.
Before anyone is admitted to Cedar Village, a care advisor will arrange a meeting with them to conduct a pre-admission assessment. The care advisor will ask the person about their needs, preferences, and what they expect out of retirement living to make sure they receive the special care they need. Medication management and assistance with daily living are part of each assisted living, independent living, and memory care resident’s daily routine, and Alzheimer’s and dementia care are standard for residents living with short-term memory loss.
The facility offers one and two-bedroom apartments for residents to choose from, according to their needs and budget. Each apartment comes with private bedrooms, bathrooms, and a kitchenette, although residents are not expected to prepare all of their meals themselves. Home-cooked meals are served daily in the dining room, making it easy for residents to meet their nutritional needs.
As a retirement community and not a nursing home, the Cedar Village Assisted Living & Memory Care community does not offer extensive skilled nursing care on-campus. As an assisted living community, they specialize in residential care and their staff is not equipped to provide long-term medical treatment. However, their residential care services are extensive and the community is located near Salem Hospital where residents can receive top-quality health care.
Of the assisted living facilities in Salem, Cedar Village is among the most popular for its exceptional long-term care programs and compassionate memory care staff. All the staff are wonderful and caring. Everyone is friendly. We would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. There are meals and activities to engage the residents in socialization.
Our family had an in person tour with Cedar Village Assisted Living and we thought the tour experience was great and all of the staff members we met with were very friendly.

My mom was in memory care there for 2 1/2 years and passed away there. They took such good care of her. My dad has now been there in memory care also, for about 15 months. He is Mr. Social and is able to attend many activities in assisted living, too. They just love him and take such good care of him. As his disease progresses, I won't worry about his care (which is only step 1 right now) because I've already witnessed my mom's care at Cedar Village. The food is good, and Dad has close friends there that are at the same stage he is.

Cedar Village Assisted Living & Memory Care was clean and nice. It looked like it was well run. I saw some of the residents, and they all seemed to be having a good time. I saw some of them playing bingo in some common area. I saw a couple of the staff. I just didn't get quite as positive a feeling with the staff. It didn't seem quite as warm and not quite as much of a family. It was very clean and open. The rooms that I saw were very nice. They had kitchenettes and walk-in showers. They had everything for the residents to be able to help themselves. In terms of location, I would say it's within five miles of the hospital.
