My mom was at Butler Street Senior Living. The staff were very caring, very nice, and friendly to us and to my mom. We stayed with her every day and they were very nice. The thing I liked the least was they were understaffed, and they didn't have a lot of activities for the dementia unit. When we went there, they told us that they had activities in the evening and stuff, and they didn't. And the staff couldn't because they were doing patient care. Sometimes they would only have one staff on for like nine patients with dementia, so they couldn't do activities. My mom's room was very nice, clean and spacious. All the other rooms were bigger than hers, but we chose the small room because it was right outside where the staff sat at their table and stuff, so that she didn't have to walk down the hall. But it had windows, a nice bathroom, and a walk-in shower. I tried their food, and it was good. My mom liked it when they had ham and sweet potatoes. She liked everything. They had their big meal at noon and then they had sandwiches at night. I saw mostly where they might have tuna salad sandwiches or chicken salad sandwiches in the evening, but during the day they had very good desserts and ice cream. One problem was that they didn't do many activities for the dementia unit. They would get them together to play different word games. They would sometimes try arts and crafts, painting mugs or decorations for the holidays. The staff were very nice, but there weren't enough staff. Like they had problems keeping up with the medications and treatments. The medical care was not the greatest. With personal care, they don't have to be medically trained, and that bothered me because these people needed things. We paid a lot, but then we had to supply everything. You had to supply diapers, soap, and shampoo.
Read moreI liked Butler Street, and my parents liked it a lot. The building was a converted nun’s convent turned school that has since been repurposed for senior living. They were very organized and seemed to have a lot of activities for everyone there. Their cost was just a little out of reach for us.

We really like how well laid out the community is - based on the tour our loved one really liked everything about it right away. Based on our experience so far we would recommend Butler Street Senior Living to other families.

They display love, affection, understanding, patience and fun. There is a sense of community. They care about my parents, and there individual needs. For example, my mom could not find her wig and one of the workers, found her wig, fixed her hair and helped mom. Overall, it has been a game changer.

I toured Butler Street Senior Living and it was really nice. The people were really nice and very friendly. The one thing I was uncomfortable with was the different flooring, and the metal stairs to go up and down; although there's an elevator. There was also only one shower per maybe 8 rooms. So you'd have to walk down the hallway to get to it. The community we chose has a shower and bathroom right in the room. The price was comparable to the other community, but chose them instead.
