My friend is at Brookstone Estates of Fairfield and is doing very well. I am just totally impressed with the caring atmosphere and the cleanliness. All of my friend's needs are taken care of right there. He doesn't have to leave that facility to live. He has a vehicle, and he chooses to go to Walmart and that type of thing, just because, but it's all inclusive. It's a good place. I understand why it's rated five-stars. My friend does the crafts, and they also have a couple of residents that have started a church service on Sunday, and he doesn't miss those. There is a library. They have a courtyard, which is very nice. That's why my friend chose a two-bedroom apartment, because his door opened out into this beautiful courtyard house, and that's what he sees when he's sitting in his living room instead of just a wall. I thought that was really nice. I have a couple of other church friends who are there that I routinely visit when I see my friend as well. I always brag to them how nice it is. People are friendly. The residents that are out in the main area visiting one another and always seem happy. The cafeteria is pleasant. I really think they go out of the way to try to make it a really good assisted living facility.

My dad has moved into Brookstone Estates of Fairfield. I chose them because my parents lived in Fairfield, which keeps them in town close to family and friends to visit. We haven't had any issues as meals are provided. They take care of his medication. They have a bus that takes them to Wal-Mart. They take them locally to doctor's appointments. It's not been very long. We've been there for a couple of weeks, and we haven't had any issues. The head nurse did leave. I'm not sure if they have a new head nurse. I believe they do have activities. My father's declining very quickly with dementia, so his communication skills have dropped to nothing, so he's not so involved with activities and stuff. They have someone who comes and cleans, and they do their laundry and stuff like that. It's a nice facility. You can walk around, do laps on the inside and the circle. They have an inside garden and stuff. They have a salon, laundry, and I am not aware of a gym. They have a huge cafeteria area for them to eat. I think the price is reasonable with anywhere else you would go.
