I'm using Southgate Senior Living for my husband. I like the staff. Everyone is very kind and helpful. However, I wish they had more staff on the floor where he is. I'm very happy with the activities that they have there. He enjoys them. And I like the fact that they include people who can't participate, like wheelchair-bound people. I like the fact that those folks, even though they can't participate in the activities, can still watch and be part of the group and enjoy being there. The food is not that great. It is in small proportion. The place is clean. My husband's room is nice, and he has a wonderful view from his window. They have an area for television that is set up like a living room. The room is large. Then they have an area for activities and an area for eating their meals. There are nice windows there. There is also a deck where they can go stand on the deck and there's beautiful, beautiful scenery. There are lots of fun things for them to look at. And it's well protected. No one can get off of the deck. And they can go out and sit on chairs and watch beautiful sunset. It's a nice place. I like that. They're wonderful staff. They're kind, loving and patient. They care about the people who are there. I think value for money is good compared to other ones. It's not quite as expensive.

I was very impressed with Southgate Senior Living. They did a fabulous job of showing us around and they have a very nice facility. The tour was very informative. They were very courteous and knowledgeable. We were impressed with the coziness of the place. It was home-like. The one-bedroom was small, but adequate. They had an outside patio and a gathering place that was like a large room with couches and game tables where they did a lot of their group activities. It was like a large living room. It was also very cozy. One of the pluses is that it's a smaller facility, so it's an easier transition for someone who perhaps is starting to have memory issues to go to this smaller environment. They won't get lost.
