Our campus is tucked away in Salem, Oregon, just minutes from local restaurants and shopping.
Our campus was built with our seniors in mind from the ground up. From our 24-hour security system to monitored entries and exits, you’ll find comfort in knowing that your loved one is in a safe and secure environment. We also have care staff on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
At Brookdale Salem, your loved one won’t be stuck in a room all day. Instead, we offer a structured daily path of engagement made up of research-backed activities that help preserve your loved one’s sense of self. This includes activities like morning mental workouts, clustered group discussions, walking groups, and creative art classes. In addition to this daily path, seniors also have the option to participate in a variety of daily events like:
-
Movie matinees

Community activities like these help give seniors living with dementia a sense of belonging and purpose.
When it’s time to relax and recharge, your loved one will have a private apartment they can call home. Before move-in day, you’ll be able to choose between several options for pet-friendly apartment floor plans. No matter what you choose, your loved one will enjoy a space outfitted with a private bathroom and large windows for an abundance of natural light. We encourage residents to decorate their spaces with personal furnishings, favorite family photos, and treasured keepsakes so they feel right at home.
With our memory care program, everything is personalized based on your loved one’s needs. They’ll enjoy the basics like housekeeping, restaurant-style dining with healthy menu options, and, of course, gentle guidance and reminders. Our care staff is also ready to help with tasks like grooming, dressing, medication management, moving around campus, and dining assistance if needed. We’re here to help seniors flourish and live their best life in a warm, welcoming, and secure environment.

We went to look at Brookdale Salem Oregon. The staff members were very caring and seemed nice. The residents were getting ready to play bingo when we were there. They had a dining area and a salon. Their price is higher than the other facility.

My mother was in Brookdale Salem. I was very impressed from the day that I first walked in. The staff is friendly, thoughtful, and kind. They're so good with the people that are residing there. I would certainly recommend it if somebody has a family member with memory problems. The other day when I was there, a gentleman was showing a movie about locations and asking questions. Most of the people were just sitting there, maybe one or two were reacting; then they all got a bowl of pudding to eat. Another day they were blowing up a ball so they could toss it to one another for mental and physical exercise. As I watched them, some of the people there needed help with eating. They're very kind. I've never heard a sharp word or a voice raised. They're always thoughtful. When my mother passed, the young lady who took care of her was very anxious to know that I did a good job of washing her face, dressing her, and making sure that she looked presentable. I really appreciated that. My mom was not there that long, but she had excellent care. She wasn't eating anymore, so they were offering her sips water. Her food had to be pureed. She had a really nice room, and she had a roommate who was a lovely lady. I really liked that the room was L-shaped. The other lady was in one part, and then my mom was in the other part; that way they're not next to each other. Each one had their private areas. It's expensive, but people are so kind, thoughtful, and easy to be with. They take care of their people. They really care. They have an inside courtyard, and people could sit out there. They didn't let them go out when we had that heat. It was too much to ask them to go out there, even though a lot of the people wanted to be out there. There were several people I saw walking in the halls. They weren't locked in their rooms. They could be out into other areas. Nobody could go outside unless they had somebody let them go out and be escorted. Somebody had to unlock the door. They're safe, and they're very well looked after. I noticed when you walk in (unlike other places that just smells industrial), it doesn't smell like cleaning smells and old smells. It didn't have any of that. It was warm, accepting, and homey. Their decorations were very nice. It was like a little shopping center. The little offices had fences, and it looked like you could go in and buy candy or look at things. It was very sweet the way they have it.

My father-in-law and my mother both have dementia. The room looked like a bedroom you might have at home. It didn't look like a hospital room or a nursing home. It looked like an actual bedroom in somebody's home. Because of COVID, we couldn't see the dining room, but they had just cleaned it in between meals. It was all sanitized and they were very, very thorough about their sanitization. It looked like a little village when you walked through the door. They had an ice-cream place and little stores. Nobody was around because of COVID, but we did go into one of the TV rooms, and there were people sitting in there watching TV together. It looked like a living room.

It was pretty basic and simple, but plenty for the clientele. From what I observed, security seemed good and adequate. They have keypads to get out, so with that type of facility, it would be difficult for memory care patients to exit the building without somebody taking them. I saw a couple of little TV gathering rooms. Everything looked clean and well-kept. Everything cosmetically looked good.
