We decided to keep my mother at Brookdale Phillippi Creek and she's doing well. The last time that we had used their services, we were not satisfied. And this time, they have a whole new staff, and it seems to be working well now. I do like the new administrator. I think he's done a really good job of turning the situations around. I like the fact that Brookdale is a huge community as far as other locations. I feel like my mom is being much better cared for. I think the staff has much improved from where it had been. The food has gotten better. They hired a new person for the kitchen and a new dining supervisor. It is an older facility, but it appears to be structurally sound. I think they could do better at cleaning.

The lady that did the activity was super nice and they're the ones that were telling us that when it comes to the meals, they try to get the people to come out, to go to the cafeteria, and to eat. They don't encourage them to eat in the room. They want them to be social, which was a very nice thing to hear. There was a gentleman there who tried to find things for them to do, like creating something. Sometimes the residents suggest what they would like to do. So, they seem to listen to the people.

It seems like they're doing a lot for Dad, whether it be medication-wise or just the care that he's receiving. I liked what they were offering him. They were able to control his behavior with medications. It's a pretty good facility. There are no complaints about the cleanliness part of it. The food I saw was pretty good. I was only there for like a meal or two. I was pretty pleased with the facility. With the staff and the care that they get, I would refer them to anyone that was looking for a memory care unit.

The head nurse seemed to take no responsibility for anything. There was just an overall lack of concern for the community members in my opinion. There were stains on the carpet, open electrical junction boxes, etc; that would be another complaint. Value for money was fair.
