The friendliness of the staff at Brookdale Mount Vernon is amazing. I was never greeted like that at dad's previous facility. He is cared for very well. The residences are very clean. I was late getting him moved in, so intended to return the next morning to finish. When I arrived, the night staff had already completed putting things away! As my father is a lifelong vegetarian, I cannot speak to his meals - it's a little difficult to pull off for only a few residents. I can say that he gets enough to eat! Visitors reporting back to me have said that they are amazed at how much he has improved in his current residence. One cannot ask for a better recommendation than that.

All of the staff are very responsive to the needs of the residents and their families. They communicate what will help our loved one and answer questions from the family and respond to us with professionalism and care. The move in was great. Brookdale staff was very helpful and helped us with getting required paperwork, etc.

My tour at Brookdale Mount Vernon was good. It was very nice. The residents there seemed more able to get around than the ones that were at the other place. They were up and down the halls and walking and so on. The room was small and clean. They showed us the vacant one. It had no furniture or anything in it, and you had to take your own in. I thought it was very well set up and everything. One thing that I was pretty well dismayed at was, they started a base rate, which was okay, but then if they have to administer any medicines at all, it's $900 more per month, and to me, that was pretty exorbitant. The price turned me off. It's a lot closer to my home but the price was out of our range. The staff who took me around was very nice. She was good. They were very proactive in gardening and just doing stuff out in the outdoors part of it. I like that very much. They have a pretty sizable courtyard. They had flowerpots and raised beds and they planted stuff, and I liked that part about it because my husband is a gardener, and he would like that. Their price is the only thing that probably would keep me from it. I just couldn't afford that.

This facility has been good. They're doing a pretty good job here, we have no complaints. The residents all seem fairly happy. My loved one has made some new friends and she likes living here. Occasionally, she doesn't like the food. Communication with the family has been good. Housekeeping is twice a week, I believe. My loved one is picky about cleanliness, but has had no complaints. They're doing a good job with it! They do offer transportation at an additional cost. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

My loved one was in pain as well due to having rawness on her body for the lack of care. The staff communication with the family was not very good. They would listen to the concerns or questions; however, the staff wouldn't act on any of the concerns to correct the issues for us.
