A year ago, I moved my mother to Brookdale Monrovia. I wanted a place where she would be safe and also have a social life. My decision was not easy but after touring the community and meeting with [name removed], Executive Director, and [name removed], Activity Director I new this was the perfect place for my mother. They both answered all my questions and concerns. I never felt pressured. I was very impressed with all the services they provide for their residents. They welcomed my mother with open arms. Her primary language is Spanish and I was worried that my mother would not feel comfortable because the community has few residents that speak Spanish. But I felt at ease knowing that majority of staff speak Spanish fluently. I always wanted my mother to live out her golden years in a safe and happy place. Brookdale is the place!

My mother became a resident in April of 2022, and neither her or I have any regrets. Brookdale has become her home now and she enjoys living there, and getting involved in all of the many daily activities offered to for residents. My mom especially enjoys the weekly excursions, offering a verity of activities and destination. Mom has become an active member of the community, and is always bragging about how welcoming the residents are and how personal and loving the staff is. They call her by name and are a part of her family now.

At 101, mom was living alone with a twice a week caregiver. She wasn't getting the social interaction she needed. Every day I would wait for her call or her email telling me she was ok. When I suggested assisted living she said "I'm not going to one of those places". Having already visited Brookdale Monrovia, I knew that if I could get her there, she'd want to move. I showed her the online videos and she agreed to a tour. We toured the community and stayed for lunch. By the time we got home, she was sold. Everyone fussed and fawned over her, which she loved. She's happy with the people, the activities and the food. She's made friends. Every day she gets up and gets dressed -- no more sitting around in her housecoat. I no longer hear "I'm alone so much" and I know she's safe. It's a "win-win".
