My mom was at Brookdale Chandler Regional. It was very good. They did everything that we thought they would do. It was a very nice place to care for her for 30 days. The condition of the place was very good. My mom thinks the food was very good. My mom also thought the staff were very good, kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. There were no issues. Everything was good. The community was fine. It was pretty much everything you would want a place like that to be.

I toured Brookdale Chandler Regional. If you need assisted living, I think it's a fabulous place. It seems like they kept their people very active and out of their rooms, which I think might be very important if you're at that point where you need that kind of help. The person who gave the tour was very enthusiastic, real positive, and seemed to truly love his job and the place. The rooms and the dining area looked all well done, very nicely kept, and looked like they were all well-maintained, but the rooms were very small. They had no kitchen, they had a sink and maybe a microwave, but that was it. They had everything from a physical therapist and trainers, and then they had hairstylists coming in. It seemed like everywhere you went they were doing something somewhere. One was doing a historical talk, there was another one doing a craft area, in another place they had movies going, so it seemed very active. There was something going on for everybody, it seemed.

My dad is happy with the food, too. They have a lot of activities. The only thing missing there is maybe some nice outside space. But in terms of amenities, they have a salon, a gym, a chapel, and a library.

The rooms at Brookdale Chandler Regional were very, very tiny. It's just one room. You can maybe fit a single bed in there, a chair, a small TV, and a table for two, but that's all you could fit in there. Walter was the one who toured us around, and he was very, very nice. They had activities. They were playing bingo when we went in there. They also had a salon and they give you rides to the grocery store, to your doctors, and to the casino, too, if you wanted. I thought the food was very good.

Brookdale Chandler Regional was probably more around our price range. If I remember correctly, that's the one that is also state-funded. The staff was very helpful too, I can't remember that gal's name, but she actually sat down with us and answered questions, just to kind of get a good understanding of what we were working with in terms of my mother-in-law. She helped us with the administration, the paperwork, the funding, and all that stuff as well. We liked the rooms. They weren't upgraded to the degree that the other facility we saw was. But what we liked is that they allow a certain degree of customization in there. I think that was impressive. We had the option to help make the room cozy and familiar for my mother-in-law. That went a long way with us. It wasnt as nice as the other place, but for what they had to offer and what they allowed in terms of customization, I thought that more than made up for it. We could put our own curtains in there, I thought we could paint. From what we know of my mother-in-law, we could make the room a very cozy and comfortable place for her. The staff who gave us the tour, was so helpful. We didn't know much about the funding situation. We just know that my mother-in-law doesn't have a lot. So, she sat down and kind of explained to us and educated us on how this process works. She offered up any additional questions or assistance we need and said she would be available to help us out. Some things really appealed to us there, not only just the affordability, but some of the customization aspects that we would be allowed.

It was pleasant and clean, and they looked like they're competent, and that's all I needed. It had lots of activities to do. The food plan looked good. It was in a good location. It was close to lots of things that I'm interested in. The medical care that they provided there was appealing as well. The staff was very upbeat and positive, and they all seemed to be happy. They had good-sized rooms, and had everything that I was looking for with nice bathrooms. There seemed to be a lot of activities going on everywhere. They were playing games, and we saw the activities director working with the residents.
