I am a current employee at avenir memory care in chandler. I want to start off by saying I love the resident’s and I love the families. Furthermore this place is terrible as being a employee and or a resident. We as employees are treated unfair, we are very short staff and have a very huge turn over rate. We are scheduled 12 hours shifts with no breaks being able to be taken unless it’s forced upon. We are not provided with any meals and or drinks as employees. As employees with concerns or problems we have there is no one to reach out to such as corporate and or directors. No one answers the phones. The director here Shawn is so unprofessional and unorganized. From the hiring process to our pay checks. Any time a issue is at hand we are blew off and overlooked. This lady does not conduct proper protocols, she is bias and she has no concern or care for the facility. The nurses here over medicated residents to the point the residents are either sleep and or out of it all day. The nurses here does not interact with residents, they sit in the office all day on their phones even when they have down time. Many families has complained and has had reasonable suspicion for medication records, logs, and or medication administration. This place does not complete ADLS and or activities, this place does not report and or completer incident reports. Residents are being abused physically and mentally, residents are being dragged by shirts and pants, residents are being yelled at, residents are being laughed at and talked about. Residents do not receive proper showers and or oral and hair care. Residents are being left with clothing around ankles while lying in bed, residents are walking around with wet and dirty clothings, residents share clothing and or supplies. There’s a shortage of supplies at this place as well such as hygiene products. The residents here are miserable and this place needs better management. Any thing that’s being stated in this review has been spoken to Shawn the director as nothing has happened this lady thinks everything is a joke and she takes NO concerns serious. Employees have tested positive for covid 19 here and back to work in 2 days. That’s not safe ! The reason being is because their short staff which does not make it right. As employees we are required to be tested at least twice a week if I’m not mistaken and that’s not happening. This place is terrible and the problem is from the director to corporate.

My wife of 70 years is in her fourth month as a guest of this care facility. During this period, she has become involved in all of the activity that is provided there. This includes creativity in art and music to challenge her from the darker days before her arrival there. The attendants and providers are charmed by her response to their efforts. I truly believe that the time she has spent there, has enhanced her personality from the grim days she was troubled with terrible thoughts and behavior. There is no doubt in my mind that leadership and devotion to duty at the Avenir have provided her a happier life.
