I’m deeply saddened to have to write this review, but I feel it’s necessary to inform others. My grandmother was a resident at Brightview on New Canaan senior living facility and unfortunately her experience was marred by a distressing incident of theft. A Brightview employee stole her engagement ring directly off her body while she was under their care. It’s important to note that my grandmother never removed her engagement ring, as it wouldn’t fit over her knuckle. When my uncle and mother started to notice missing items from her room they attempted to remove my grandmother''s engagement ring, and she winced in pain. It’s deeply troubling and raises concerns that the thief may have caused her harm in their attempt to take her ring. In addition to the theft of jewelry directly taken off my grandmother''s body, I must also mention that her personal safe was violated and valuables were taken from it. Furthermore, sentimental paperweights from her windowsill were also stolen. This blatant disregard for residents’ belongings is utterly unacceptable. Adding insult to injury, when we brought our concerns to the management, they callously brushed off our claims by stating that they don’t hire workers with a criminal background. This dismissive response only adds to the frustration and disbelief we feel. Despite the presence of cameras all over the facility, which should have served as a deterrent to theft and facilitated the identification of the culprit, the management still failed to provide any updates or resolution. We meticulously narrowed down the timeframe of the theft of my grandmother''s engagement ring to a few hours, yet they were unable to pinpoint the responsible individual. This lack of accountability and failure to utilize available resources to address such a serious issue is completely baffling. It’s appalling to think that individuals entrusted with the care of vulnerable seniors would stoop to such despicable acts. It’s heartbreaking to see a place that’s supposed to provide comfort and safety fail to protect their residents. I urge anyone considering this facility to thoroughly investigate their security measures before entrusting their loved ones’ well-being to them.
Read moreThe facility has a very pleasant environment, very clean and well appointed with many varied activities for the residents. The food is excellent. it does lack a small gift/convenience store for residents to purchase sundries on site.
I spent time sharing song and celebration with the community.

Based on my experience with an elderly friend who is mentally intact but has multiple medical problems for which he can no longer be cared for at home, I highly recommend Brightview New Canaan as an option for assisted living. Most importantly the staff at every level is friendly and welcoming. They make a concerted effort to accommodate and satisfy the individual needs of residents and their families. The facility itself is modern and physically appealing with apartments of various sizes. Food is good. Multiple activities are available to satisfy a variety of interests and provide opportunities for social interaction, including occasional excursions offsite. Physical and occupational therapy is readily available as needed. If long term care is a consideration, an exploratory visit would be well worth the time.
