My mother has been there for nearly 4 years. We are self pay (pay out of pocket ourselves) the reason for that being said we pay to keep her at this facility. We feel like we pay for the best facility in our surrounding area. We initially started out at a facility in middlesboro. They weren''t capable of providing the care that our mother needed. The nurses and aides were great. Administration and department heads didn''t carry out things they promised to address with those providing care to mom. She was a extremely high fall risk, we had 6 falls in 2 months. 2 of those resulting in injuries that had to be treated by orthopedics. Since the switch to barbourville health and rehabilitation we''ve had 1 fall in nearly 4 years. Mother requires alot of work Physical therapy and speech therapy. These departments are top notch providing the best care I''ve ever saw. Our mother resides on 200 unit. The care she receives is phenomenal. She''s up everyday sitting. We have a nurse and med tech that work together on their 2 halls together they keep their patients in top shape. They make sure their aides are giving fluids, snacks and changing those who require it. I call those 2 the dynamite duo they bust A$$ taking care of their people and their families addressing every concern we may have. Our father is going to be needing placed in a nursing home soon and he has said himself this is where he wants to be. We couldn''t ask for better care. We have truly been blessed by the staff at barbourville.

My grandparents recently moved in here - nice and large place. Accommodating flat. However, the step into the “walk-in” shower I don’t see as fit for seniors and the sliding doors are a pain to get open. The reception has proved unhelpful in an urgent situation where my grandma had to call an ambulance for my grandpa. There’s a rule where in case of emergency WC has to know beforehand. I’m not entirely sure on all the rules but it was upsetting for my grandma. Hopefully they can be more helpful if another situation occurs. Also, the ATM machine has a fee of $3 which is annoying. I think there’s a lack of available staff monitoring the place - I worry for people who may fall or injure themselves and they are alone in one of the halls for a while. Other than that my grandparents have settled in well enough but could do with a little more help from the general staff. The home health team though are amazing - especially Shannon, Elyse and Megan - they are incredibly patient, helpful and good at their jobs.

The therapist are great. They go above and beyond.
VERY poor quality of health care. Please look elsewhere if possible
