I hate my Dad was ever sent to Applingwood. He had a bed sore within the first week and a half. They barely bathed him, and my uncle had to come bathe him. He was supposed to be on a low sodium diet, but kept bringing him Lay''s potato chips and crackers with salt. They weren''t weighing him but once a week. His last week there he was so full of fluid he couldn''t breathe. I mentioned to one of the coordinators that I believe he needed to be transferred to the hospital. A little later in comes the nurse with a breathing treatment like that was going to help fluid in his lungs. They told me his chest X-ray was clear. I asked when it was done, and they told me Friday. It was Tuesday and you could hear that he had fluid, and was clearly badly swollen and had been since the end of week 1. He fell out of the bed while he was there and upon being transferred to the hospital, e had fluid in his lungs, and the nurses found all kinds of bedsores and pressure wounds because they just let him lay there. This place should be shut down!

My 99 great grandma was sent there after she fell and broke her pelvic bone. Upon being sent there, my first interaction was with a very rude nurse, Ophelia, she talked to me and my grandmother like we were dumb because we were concerned about my great grandmother having a potential UTI (which left untreated makes her hallucinate.) but Ophelia isn’t the only bad nurse, the rest of them take forever to get there and often left my great grandmother in her own filth due to her not being able to walk on her own. Pushing the stupid button for help was more for decor and less for practical reasons. My grandmas room had poop smeared on the walls, often smelled of pee and they rarely bathed her. I can’t believe this place hasn’t be shut down yet. But the worse part is that my grandma got hurt during her time in rehab…which is supposed to rehabilitate you…but she left with a new broken nose and finger. When my grandma asked why she just now was hearing about this, the woman on the phone said, “it’s actually better that you don’t hear from us, because that means nothing is wrong.” In what world does that make sense. Appling Woods is filled with incompetent and rude staff, don’t send your loved ones there if possible.
Read moreTerrible staff that do not care about the patients. My family members snacks and meds were always missing and was always being yelled at. The nurses never respond to the call button and do not take their job seriously. They treat their patients like trash. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!
The staff is very rude and disrespectful! Wouldn’t recommend sending your family members there!

When the doctor, who only comes in once a week BTW, finally showed up, he sent my dad straight to the ER with bedsores that were "BLACK AND TO THE BONE." He died a few days later because of the bed sore infection. The ICU nurse said he was not repositioned often enough and it should have been addressed earlier than it was. On top of that, they were cold and mean to my mother whenever she visited. Whenever I''ve visited, the nurses were sitting on their butts at the nurse''s station on their cell phones.

Only giving a star because you have to in order to write a review. My mother was there only 3 weeks in May and almost died in their care. She was eating full meals before she went in post hip surgery but was neglected to the point of near death dehydration and had to be rushed to the ER to receive life saving fluids only because my father realized and insisted. Had she stayed any longer, she surely would have died due to their blatant neglect. Do not let anyone you know use this facility. We are lucky our mother survived but based on other reviews, it is clear this is not uncommon and many others have not survived their time at Applingwood. It should be shut down for good.
