My dad moved into The Lodge at Glen Cove. It's a newer facility. It's very nice, very clean. The dinner options were nice. There's a great view. The weather's nice and the people are friendly. The room was nice and the bathroom is ADA compliant in his studio. So far, so good, it's only been a couple of weeks though. They have movies, games, poker, happy hour, cribbage, and shuttles to local restaurants. There are several courtyards and a little breezeway down to the water.

My mom moved into the Lodge at Glen Cove. It's a beautiful area and building. My mom's room is nice. She has a smaller room, but it's nicely laid out. Sometimes they're a little slow with repairs. When my mom first got here, she complained that the food was cold. Some foods she likes, and a lot of them she just doesn't like. It just depends on how she feels about eating. They play bingo and other types of games and exercise in their wheelchairs. They have performances and movie theaters. They have an activity chart where they are doing things. I think the staff members are like on a time frame where they have to do things quickly. They don't always respond right away when they're needed. They always say they're understaffed. I think they're having my mom out among other people, even though they're just sitting in the chair and not locked in a room.

The staff at The Lodge at Glen Cove was very nice and their food was good. They had a good cook. They had a lot of activities that were going on there. They had different groups that visit, which I appreciate, and people who brought in comfort dogs (I love dogs). As you go into the main entrance, they have a coffee shop area where they could curate their meals. They've got a nice big fireplace with chairs and couches around it. It was very comfortable.

The facility is beautiful but staff rude and dismissive to my parents. Food was ok, but they regularly ran out of even basics. The care is very substandard. When my mom was vomiting and unable to take her medication, no one followed up on how she was doing or what they could do to help. They just left us a phone message that “Your mom refused her medication.” A very upsetting and demoralizing experience for my parents. They moved after less than two months. No one at The Lodge asked why.

Nice that they have individual rooms but that is it. The care techs don't know the residents at all just call them by their room numbers it's so sad! One time when I visited the med tech was sleeping on his shift. My loved one was never bathed, her hair was always dirty, she got infections, they didn't even tell us when she was being treated for an infection we had to find out weeks later by the doctor they had come to see her not them! We switched her to a smaller facility where they actually get to know her and learn her name.

My loved one lived here when it was brand new so we didn't have any reviews to go by. Whenever I visit they are understaffed and ask me to help them. My loved one is never bathed and always smells like urine her hair is always dirty. They said they would have a salon and nail services but never has had them. The staff don't know the residents names and calls them by their room numbers only. Very impersonal. The staff is often sleeping on the job when I come to visit. My loved one got an infection from their lack of cleanliness/cleaning her and they never even told us we just happened to find out weeks later from the doctor they called in. Very bad place please don't send your loved one here!!!! It's abuse especially since they cannot tell you what is going on! And yes they have had many outbreaks of covid as well.
