I have not found anything that I dislike about Holiday White Oaks yet. They were good. We are in the process of moving Dad in. The staff are super nice and super accommodating. The tours that we had were great. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They've been fantastic over there. Some of these retirement facility-type places are very busy with all their programs and stuff. This place still has a good amount of activities and programs, but it's a little less intrusive or invasive. It's a little more laid back. My father's not big on doing stuff like that and in a place like this, he's not going to have somebody beating on his door three times a day to see if he wants to go to play bridge or go to happy hour or whatever. He can go if he wants and if he doesn't want, he doesn't have to go. They have people on site that take care of people. So, they seem extremely flexible as far as their ability to provide care. If you need a lot of care right now, you can get it, but you don't have to sign up to pay for something the whole way through if it turns out that you end up not needing it once you're OK. My father's blind and that is one of the big issues. He is kind of new to it and getting answers about how he would be able to function and what he would be able to do and get around in the place, they were super good with that. They have a couple of other residents who are blind and they got us in contact with them. We had a great sit down with one of the other residents there who was sort of in the same situation and got to talk with her. She was amazing. Christiana is the woman that I dealt with mostly over there. I go on tours with her and she's fantastic the whole way through. I'm pretty happy with it. A lot of their units are pretty newly renovated and nice and everything's clean.

I visited Holiday White Oaks. The facility was very nice and beautiful. I was not necessarily a fan of the parking lot being in front of the building the way it was. It made it look kind of like a hotel, but the facility itself was gorgeous. They were updating some rooms. I saw an updated studio with a balcony, and it was very nice. The way the bathroom was set up was great. It had a mini kitchen with a refrigerator, a sink, and things like that for an apartment. They had a piano, a library, and a fitness room that had stuff in it. The people could get on the treadmill, which worked. They had the laundry set up very nicely, and it was fully accessible. It was very safe and clean. The lobby was absolutely beautiful. The staff was phenomenal. She was wonderful and caring. She even offered suggestions about things to look at for the units and how to make them feel a little bit more spacious, how to interact with my mom, and having a discussion with her about possibly moving and things like that. She was very knowledgeable and extremely accessible. Some of the rooms were a little dated.

We toured with White Oaks and we thought it smelled funny when we walked in. It was in the middle of being redecorated at the time. The view from the room was just a busy street. It was not the right fit for my loved one.

I visited Holiday White Oaks. What I saw was independent living with additional care services as needed, which was nice. The interaction between staff and residents was very minimal. I was surprised, I saw three residents total while I was there. It was a nice facility. They're undergoing a full remodel nearing the end. There was still a lot of construction and remodeling going on. Some of the areas that she showed me were filled with furnishings and different things due to the remodel. It was very nice, the sections that were done. The person I met was very nice, offered a lot of information, and was very caring. I saw one resident doing a puzzle. The facility was pretty empty, and everyone was somewhere. They have a library planned, but that's empty right now and being remodeled. They have a craft room. They're doing carpeting and painting, so everything's cleared out, but what was completed is very nice, updated, and clean. We didn't go outside. There were some rocking chairs in the front of the building. I think everyone was hunkered down in their room watching TV or something. I was only interested in the studio. It was very nice and had lots of closet space. Kind of like a fair studio, it has its own bathroom.
