I have attempted many times to write this review but would delete it each time. As I begin, I want to be very clear when I say that my mother received wonderful CNA and nursing care, especially the CNAs while at Wadesboro Health and Rehabilitation. That is one of the main reasons I have been reluctant to write this review, I didn''t want it to reflect poorly on the CNAs or nursing staff. However, I think it is important to share the experience I had with my mother during her stay. My comments are specifically related to the rehabilitation program or lack thereof. On November 7, 2020 my mother suffered a stroke. After a 17 day stay in the hospital, she was transferred to Wadesboro Health and Rehabilitation for REHABILITATION on November 23. Within a couple of weeks of arriving at the facility, my mother took a very serious fall, when she fell out of the bed and fractured her left eye socket. In December of that year, she suffered from aspiration pneumonia and ended up in the hospital for a week. She also experience depression and anxiety and severe loss of appetite where she was eating less than 25 % of all three meals total. I mention this because all of the aforementioned things caused setbacks, some things the facility was responsible for and others the were a result and effects of her stroke. Because her whole purpose for being there was for rehabilitation, it believe the responsibility of the facility to ensure therapeutic goals were being met, despite any setbacks. For the majority of my mothers time at the facility, not only was she not receiving physical therapy, they barely got her out of the bed during the week. It was not uncommon for her to be in bed ALL day for 3 or 4 consecutive days. There was never even any attempts to try ambulation exercises while in the bed. In fact I had to go on Amazon and purchase small 1lb hand weights and strengthening balls just so she would have something to work with since she is in bed all day most days. I even emailed the facility to inquire about therapy options that could be executed from her bed, they never responded. For most of my mother''s stay at the facility, the focus shifted from rehabilitation to just personal care, feeding and med management. The only time an effort was made towards therapy was if I approached the subject or made a request. I was incredibly frustrated. After many months, it was clear that the facility had no plans to to get my mother to a better place therapeutically and was simply milking Medicare, Medicare and her family for all they could get. Prior to her discharge, I reached out again to the facility indicating that we were at a critical point with mama and for us to be able to successfully bring her home, would depend heavily on her getting back into therapy. They finally attempted some therapy after 7-months! At this point, the window of time when rehabilitation for stroke patients to get the best results had all but closed. My mother was at the facility from November 23, 2020 to July 23, 2021 (8-months!!) and when she was release, she still required maximum assistance with everything! She was unable to stand, walk, shift her weight in bed, bathe herself, dress herself or toilet herself. After begging and pleading I was finally able to get my mother admitted into a Acute Rehabilitation Hospital. I really lamented over sending her back to rehab but I felt that if she was ever going to gain any of her independence back, that it was absolute necessary. After 3-weeks at that facility, my mother is standing, walking, shifting her weight in the bed and is able to bathe and toilet herself. Encompass Health and Rehabilitation was able to do in 3-weeks what they could not or would not do in 8-months. Wadesboro Health had Rehabilitation truly let us down and then discharged us with nothing more that a huge bill!

I enjoy coming to work here as we are all a little family, when one is down or needs help we all pitch in to help. I love being able to make a difference in people''s lives and the culture of our center allows me to do just that. I would highly recommend working here to others. 🙂
