What we liked best at Villas of Holly Brook - Chatham is the welcoming atmosphere when you walked into the facility itself. I really can't think of anything they can improve. We were given a guided tour by Kim, chief executive director, and he did an amazing job. He answered all of our questions, gave us tons of information, and followed up with me numerous times to try to make it work for my brother. I've been very impressed. My brother loves working puzzles, and they have a specific area that they've designated to individuals who want to put your puzzles out on the table, and they won't be disturbed, so they can come back, and they don't have to worry about that in their living quarters. They have a movie theater. It's very acclimated to make individuals feel like that's home regardless of what part of the facility they might be doing activities, and we were just very impressed.

My father just moved into Villas of Holly Brook in Chatham, IL, this weekend. He really likes it there. He said the food is really good. The people are really nice to him. He hasn't had any problems yet. He loves his little apartment. We've got him all moved in with his bed and all his furniture, so he feels more comfortable and like he's at home. He said it's nice to know that people don't bother him unless he needs them, and they can always come when he presses his special button around his neck. The people there seem to be very, very kind and helpful. I've never had a problem with anybody on the staff. It is a small place with only fifty residents, so that's good. They have a really nice little outdoor place where they can sit if they want. It is like a garden outside. He really likes it, and he has a little patio; he can sit out on the patio in the garden if he wants. He has a one-bedroom that is hooked on to a living room, it has a little area that goes out to the patio, and the kitchen and bathroom are attached to that. It's a one-bedroom apartment. They have a nice little library with a fireplace and a nice dining hall where everybody can go and eat, but you don't have to eat there if you don't want. The food is really good. My father says he has been really full with all his meals, and they bring him a snack whenever he wants one, so that's good. It seemed like a really nice place. All the residents seem to be happy, smiling, and glad to see us. They have a lot of activities, but he doesn't want to do any of those things; he wants to be left alone. They were the least expensive of all the ones that we checked out, so the price is good.
Read moreMy loved one seems to be in a good place. I like that it is assisted living. The staff is excellent, and they are always able to keep me updated on my loved one. I like the fact that the community is able to do blood draws when needed, this is a huge relief for me.

My dad moved into the Villas of Holly Brook. It's very, very good, we're very impressed, it's exactly what we were looking for, and I'm very pleased with the staff. I really loved the apartment, and how they're working with my dad to incorporate him into the community. I'm happy with everything they're doing. They clean his apartment once a week, they give him his shower twice a week, make sure that he gets down to the dining hall, or they would bring him his meals in his room if he would like, and they administer the medications because they have 2 nurses on staff, and they have LPNs on staff. They check on him at 1:00 am and 5:00 am making sure everything's fine, and they supply a lifeline thing you put around your neck, it goes to the staff, and if he wants anything at all, all he does is push it, and then they come. They have a beautiful community room, they show movies, I think I saw a shuffleboard, and other activities like that, people are doing puzzles, and with dad, they're getting it ready, they're contacting for me, physical therapy and occupational therapy to come in and work with him.

My mother has been at Hollybrook for 2 years and we are very happy with the place. Even with the Covid-19 problems they are often coming up with novel entertainment ideas that are thoughtful. I am impressed with their safety measures as well. Before Hollybrook we were at a facility in Springfield that cost much more and the staff was quite bad, regardless of the shift. We also tried another that had very good staff and also cost much more but my mother didn't like the multiple levels or the formal, stilted atmosphere. This place doesn't have those problems at all. As others have said, the Hollybrook price is quite competitive, the single level is great for exercise and figuring out how to get around and the homey atmosphere of the place is not intimidating.
