The Cassena Care Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a nursing facility offering a wide variety of services, including long-term rehabilitation, short-term rehabilitation, and sub-acute care. Whether a patient is recovering from a minor injury or living with long-term acute illness, this skilled nursing facility’s exceptional team and cutting-edge technology can aid them during their journey toward wellness.
Located in New York City in the Upper Eastside (near West Babylon and Bronx NY), the Cassena Care Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is among the most premier long-term care facilities in the area. Its convenient location makes it easy for residents to move into and out of the care facility without traveling far from their home or family members. Unlike community-based long-term care facilities, the Upper Eastside rehab center is a nursing home, specializing in health care and nursing services. When patients receive skilled nursing services and nursing home care at the Upper Eastside rehab center, their health care providers may cover the cost of their care. Typically, health care plans (including Medicaid services) will pay for up to a 30-day stay in a nursing home, and pay for any additional qualifying skilled nursing services a person needs during their stay. If a person needs to live in the nursing home and receive long-term health care, they may also qualify for cover through their health care providers depending on their plan and the extent of their needs. Prospective residents should contact the centers for Medicare or Medicaid services directly if they have questions about nursing home coverage.
There are many nursing homes in the Bronx NY vicinity, but few offer the quality and range of skilled nursing care available at the Cassena Care Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. The care facility offers most common types of professional therapy, like physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. They also offer Alzheimer’s care as a service for residents living with short-term memory loss and dementia. When patients are living with chronic illness, they may consider palliative care to as part of their treatment plan.
When patients go through the onboarding process, a staff member or one of the facility’s trained social workers will work with them to create a treatment plan that best promotes their health and well-being. It’s not up to the sole discretion of a staff member to determine which skilled nursing services a person receives, and patients are active in creating their own health care plan. By having a voice in their treatment, patients can have a say in how they move toward happier times as they receive skilled nursing care.
Overall, it’s clear why the Cassena Care Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is one of the top nursing homes in the West Babylon vicinity. Their exceptional team deliver services that rank above the national average, and each resident is treated as an individual during their stay. This personal attention to each patient and the facility’s wide range of services are what sets the Cassena Care Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center apart from other long-term care facilities throughout New York City.

Employees were kind and friendly. My friend, who is there for rehab, was very excited about starting in the gym today.

Terrible. The owner NEVER was a Long-Term Patient here. LONG-TERM Care Floors HAVE VERMIN: Rats/mice, roaches, water bugs,, etc. On one of these "rat" floors, you''re SURROUNDED By: Dementia Patients. You''ll Be: DEMORALIZED, Left to Deteriorate, AND ROT. Despite everything you''re about to read, they passed a recent NYS inspection in late January 2024. Rodents RUN at night In Rooms, AND Hallways, on these floors. OFTEN, I hear hitting noises, as Aides try to kill them. Since Jan 29th, I also SEE rodents during the afternoons. On January 23rd 2024, between 5 and 5:30AM, separately, 3 came into my room. They ran to my roommate''s side. When changing her, the Aide (CNA) brushed cookie crumbs from her bed onto the floor. I WATCHED the rodents walking, eating the crumbs. Roaches are also here. A large adult was recently on my bed, near my shoulder. I''ve seen Water Bugs walk into my room from the hallway. Hygiene is often ignored. I''m washed infrequently. My hair has NEVER been combed, or brushed, after months being here. Only ONCE, over 7 Weeks Ago, was I helped to Brush My Teeth. But, only AFTER I''d Complained to a NYS Inspector. Supplies Often run Short, ESPECIALLY on the overnight. They include Sheets, blankets, Diapers,Gowns. Pillow Cases are RARELY Available. Some foods have run short, even scrambled eggs. You''ll WEAR Diapers, EVEN If you''re NOT Incontinent. Staffing is OFTEN short. At times, I''ve been left in wet diapers for 12 hours, or more. Call Lights, at times, have gone Unanswered an Hour, or more. On January 31st, 2024, by 6AM, I''d waited almost 5 hours for the Aide to change my soaking wet diaper. No One Answered my call light. Twice, I called the nurse''s station. Both times, someone picked up, didn''t talk, AND hung up. The Aide came at 6:55 a.m, to shut off my call light. I reminded her, at around 2:15, I''d told her I needed to be changed. She finally changed me. By then, the bed was also wet. No sheets were available. My Dirty Cover Sheet was Used to replace the wet sheet under me. Food trays are Often put down and left. If you need things set up to feed yourself, you may be left on your own. Sometimes my food tray is left out of reach. Check the menu on your food tray. The amount of Food served is Sometimes Cut back. Recent Examples: 1) The menu says 2 chicken tenders. The plate has 1 chicken tender. 2) The menu says 6 ravioli. The plate has 3 ravioli. Food Items SOMETIMES Run Short, OR Are Missing. Vegetables are Usually Overcooked. Salad greens are OFTEN Wilted, Sometimes ROTTEN. Soup, OFTEN Watered Down, contains Few, OR No, vegetables. A bowl of soup comes 1/2, to 2/3, full. Recently, I Counted only 2 and 1/2 beans in my macaroni and bean soup; ONLY 12 lentils in my lentil soup. Aides, and other staff, RARELY wear name tags. Staff can be rude, AND Often Ignores questions. One recent evening, I told a Verbally Abusive Aide, I was going to report her. Laughing in my face, she said, "Go ahead, report me. I don''t care.". She left, and came back a few minutes later, saying she''d just reported me! People Working Here, Bully, Pressure, and LIE, to patients. One nurse Demanded I hand her my phone, so she could see what was on it. I refused. Watch your stuff. They DON''T Respect Personal Property. As one nurse told me, "This is a nursing home. There is no personal property here." Your Things may be Touched, Moved, OR Disappear, WITHOUT your Permission, OR Knowledge. It''s happened to me. They Disregard your Rights under the law. UNLESS you''re aware of them, you have NO rights. Assert your Rights, AND you''ll be Treated Badly. Asserting your Rights here INCLUDES Complaining. They may Send a Psychiatrist. You may be Verbally Abused by Nurses, AND Aides (CNAs). Told in a harsh tone,, "No one likes you", or "You''re a bad person". It was Done to me. They Discriminate Against people with Severe Physical Disabilities. Rehab Outcomes/Goals, in that case, WON''T BE Expected to Be Achieved, OR taken Seriously, . IF YOU DON''T LOVE THEM, Leave Your Loved Ones HERE. Please, let Google know, if this review was helpful.

Amazing. Warm. Talented. The team on the 11th floor at Upper East Side Rehabilitation is an incredible group of people....EVERY. SINGLE.ONE. OF. THEM. (the front desk, the maintenance staff, the cleaning specialists, the CNAs, the nurses, the doctors, the therapists, the specialists, the volunteers, administrators, social workers, business personnel, the kitchen, the activities personnel, EVERYONE. They care about my friend and they care about their work. My friend is a sassy and hilairious 93 ur old woman who needs ALOT OF HELP and is in a lot of pain. And to see her be treated with such respect, grace, kindness, patience and ACTUALLY GOOD HEALTHCARE has restored my faith in the health system (and in this journey with her that faith had been flagging). Every rehab and hospital in the city needs to get over there and ask them what they are doing......and then COPY IT. They are incredible. If you love someone send them there. PS shout out to the social worker at NYU Langone who sent us there:)
