The tour I had at The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower was satisfactory and comprehensive. The facility was clean. The residents seemed like they were engaging in whatever they were doing. The building was under renovation. We saw a few rooms and some of them were also under renovation, the halls, the floors, but the rooms otherwise were clean. They seemed a little small for us, and they were without kitchenettes. The amenities seemed fine. Most of the facilities that I talked to or that we saw online offered pretty similar amenities. Linda, the lady in charge, and the other lady we saw were great. The property is on the lake.

If I'm gonna move, I'm going to go into The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower. I liked it. It had everything that I was looking for. It had an independent room and a restaurant. It had every amenity I could ever think of. If I ever needed any more help for anything, it's there. It's beautiful and clean. The people I met were fantastic, including some of the residents I ran into. I was very happy with the whole situation. The room was fantastic. I'm going to get a furnished room. There's no big view where that room is, but I like the size. It's a very large studio apartment, much larger than I thought it would be. It's got the internet and my television. Anything I need is there. They have a bus that will take me to my doctor, pick me up from my doctor and bring me back. I was happy with that. They will take me also if I need any kind of groceries, which I won't need because they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a restaurant, and they have a huge room for other activities like exercise, movie nights, and bingo. They check on you three times a day, like if you don't show up for meals. They just have everything you could ever possibly think of. I'm really happy with what I saw. They have certain times of the day when you could eat, which gives you a couple of hours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The people I've talked to seemed to be pretty happy with the place. The staff was fantastic.

The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower used to be a beautiful old hotel and they've done a lot of work on it. It is very comfortable. My husband has a great room and the whole second floor is assisted living. All of the girls that work on that floor have been wonderful. They're good to my husband. They care about him and do anything to make him feel better and comfortable. They're always very gracious and helpful to me and I always try to keep them informed if I know things that I think they should know. I think they're concerned about all the residents. Everybody is friendly and helpful. So, it's been a good fit all the way around and I think they're doing a great job. There's a cafe on the second floor for all the assisted living people to eat. We also had lunch downstairs in the independent living, where my husband's friend is. The waitress comes and asks what you want for lunch and to help yourself to the salad bar and they always have a dessert of some kind. It was like a restaurant and didn't feel like assisted living. They have a lot of activities. They have a bus that goes to Myers and Wal-Mart and it's also available to take people to the doctor or the dentist. Then I would have to meet them there and they would either wait or I would call them when it was time to pick him back up. They are redoing rooms as they come up empty. They're painting and I think they're putting in new windows. So, they're trying to make it a first-class place, yet it's not as expensive as some of the places around here. There are a couple of other beautiful new facilities here, but they're more expensive. All things considered, I thought The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower was the best place. It's downtown in Saint Joseph and when the days are nice, I can take my husband in his wheelchair, walk across the street into a big park area, look out on the lake, and get fresh air and sunshine. Also, we can go down to an ice cream place or have lunch downtown. These other places (no matter where they are) mostly don't have a view. They're just more of a business setting.

I'm living in The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower, and I like everything. The people are nice. The food is good. The room suits my needs. It's a studio. It's a little bigger than a regular studio, so it's adequate-sized. They have exercise classes, piano concerts, games, and things like that. There are no grounds. It's an old hotel that's right in the middle of town. It's right by the lake, so we get a beautiful view of the lake. Their activities get a pretty good turnout, though I haven't been to any of them yet. The overall value for the money is good.
