The Wellington at Arapaho: Modern Senior Living
Residents at The Wellington at Arapaho rave about the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the stellar care they receive from the staff, many of whom have been here for more than 10 years. The Wellington offers independent living, assisted living and temporary stays, and each level of care comes with personalized support. Residents in the independent living program enjoy peace of mind knowing that cooking, cleaning and transportation are handled. It frees them up to do things such as join resident-sponsored clubs (like the knitting club), take exercise classes and join friends for live entertainment. On-site amenities make life even richer — residents benefit from an ice cream parlor, outdoor walking paths, community gardens and dedicated activity rooms.
In the assisted living program, seniors receive bathing, grooming, continence and dressing care, plus regular checkups through an on-site, third-party health agency. In addition, these residents enjoy their own calendar of events designed to nurture mind, body and spirit. Residents enjoying a short-term stay get all of the same benefits as full-time residents. That includes comfy studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment homes with walk-in showers, grab rails, emergency call buttons and kitchens/kitchenettes with elegant touches like granite countertops.

The Wellington at Arapaho was great. The staff was very nice. The facilities looked very good. They were updating. I even talked to some of the residents, and they were very nice as well. The rooms were nice and were being updated. They were very appropriate for my parents. They had different stages or levels of care, which was also very healthy, so I felt like I had a range of opportunities. I liked the way that they had a council of residents. So if they had issues, they would meet frequently to bring up those issues so that the residents would have a voice for change and opportunity, which I think is pretty good to have. I thought that the dining area looked very nice. The dining options and the menu looked very good. The food was good. Although they gave you options to season the food, they made it relatively bland for all of them, which makes sense.

This place is very uneven. Sometimes do a nice job with the residents, other times really let them and their families down. Food, care, therapy, security, accounting….all very uneven…no consistency at all. In addition to the considerable monthly fees that are typical with seniors, facility is home to a gaggle of “scab workers” who lurk around trying to get you to hire them for private care. Staff seems to encourage it, guess it means they have less to do. Best to have a camera in the room.

Very impressed with the facility and the programs.

We chose The Wellington at Arapaho for my mother. It provided all the services that we needed. It was better as far as the upfront service fee, which was not as much as the others. It was also nicer. I was impressed enough to think that that would be a good place for her to be. They had a full-service menu like restaurant style. They had a lot of social activities that my mom could do. They also had live music regularly and they had a happy hour every Friday afternoon. I talked to the salesperson and I liked her. She was very friendly and took a lot of time to answer my questions. I also met the lead nurse and she talked to me about the services and what nursing care could do for my mom. So, I was impressed with her.

My loved one was there a short period of time. The woman who did the evaluation did a good job. Overall, I don't think this was a place where I would have kept my loved one long term. The food was not that good. It would be nice if they offered orientation for new residents. We experienced theft of her belongings after my loved one, passed.
