Facts: … Wonderful initially. … The simple request for assistance with my mothers hearing aides required well over one year to institute, and even then, it was not done more than every other day. … The quality of meals deteriorated… hotdogs and beans on paper plates every Saturday. … My concerns were not addressed and the relationship soured. … My much-adored mother was determined by LCB corporate to be ‘disruptive’ and they evicted her (my opinion is that they did it because I was a pain in their ass). During a pandemic. There was no opportunity to fix any issues or behaviors (we weren’t even made aware of them). … “Can I still eat breakfast? Since I don’t live here anymore?” she said in tears when she was SERVED with the notice. (How scary that must have been for her). … Gloria is the director. She authored the notice and she had it formally served and delivered to my mother despite knowing that we had Power of Attorney over her, specifically for legalities such as this. … No one from Corporate is responsive and the staff just go along, not wanting to risk their jobs. … Staff turnover is constant. In three years, there have been three head nurses, two (maybe three) care directors, two (maybe three) activities directors, three food service / chefs, two facilities managers, and countless RCAs and front desk staff. I introduce myself to new staff at every visit. Not to worry, though Gloria is the one constant. … Activities and ‘field trips’ have all but ceased. … Intellectually stimulating activities? Bingo every day. … Take Gloria out of the picture; take corporate out; and maybe you have a 3.5 Star facility.

My mom is in the memory care unit at The Residence at Five Corners. They seem to have nice accommodations. They have very large, airy rooms with lots of windows and light. It is a very clean and newer facility. We like the ratio of people working there to the patients. We like the coverage later at night. There were more members on staff with fewer patients. The common areas were well situated and not too far from the rooms. It was more of a communal feel where everyone was getting together and interacting. They have a lot of activities throughout the day. We felt the people working there honestly cared about the patients and invested in the well-being of the residents. I've seen what they've served, and the food seemed adequate.

My father has moved into The Residence at Five Corners. Our experience has been good. The place is nice, rather new, and kind of spacious compared to some of the other places. He is in a two-unit room. There are two separate rooms within the same apartment, and there's a kitchen area, as well as a bathroom that two people share. The staff members are very nice, and they seem to be very involved with his care. My father has worked on building stuff with his hands, which he likes to do. They had birdhouse building, that type of thing, and painting. They have an activity area, a larger TV room for movie-night type stuff, and a separate room for some of the activities they do that is different than the other two. They have at least three areas where they can do things, and they have an outdoor patio, which is nice. Since COVID has been decreasing, they're now open to visitations, and they're fairly unlimited, but you have to call ahead and schedule it. The schedule was originally set up for half-hour visits, but now it's not limited as far as time goes. I haven't tried the food, but it looks good. I know my father is eating well.
