My Uncle has lived in Generations for a few years and they take such great care of him! The care staff are so loving and provide great care. Misrak does great activities with the residents. Ebony, the Generations Director is always available when I need her. Great community!

The Point is a very good place for the price. The staff is so nice and good to the residents. When you tour places look for how many residents you see outside their rooms (activity) and how the staff responds to them (knows their names and treats them). You will see that The Point residents are engaged and the staff are very good. Before The Point, we had our mom in another assisted living facility in Oakland that was very well decorated and clean but charged much more and had service and care issues that were not apparent just by touring it. All facilities will have issues, but we recommend the people, leadership, and care at The Point.

I met with a very nice woman at The Point at Rockridge and she gave me a lovely tour which started with lunch. She said, "Come on over for lunch." It's a delicious free lunch in this large, sunny restaurant for everybody. She's a director there. I asked her how many residents they had, because on their website it said 186, and she said, "Oh, no. 143." So it's smaller than I thought and spacious. I saw a couple of studios that were simple, not large, but maybe ample for one person without much need to cook in the room or entertain in the room, or mainly you would have your activities outside of the room, but it was exceedingly clean and well-organized with modern appliances, a nice refrigerator and beautiful fixtures in the bathroom and light fixtures. When it comes to the overall rating of the facility, inside was a five rating, but outside, it's on a very busy corner with a very busy street that has two lanes going in each direction. Across the street, there's a big mall and restaurants and so for me, I did not get the sense that I could go outside and easily have a walk around the neighborhood. The people knew the director and she was kind to people and conversational and was just wonderful. The lunch we had was better than average. The facility was a big high rise so it's boring and square with elevators, but it was wonderfully maintained inside with ample space for the areas and very clean, and kind of refurbished with good rugs and recently painted. They had studios and one bedroom. Again, there are elevators going up and down to the sixth floor. All of the apartments have balconies. Some of the balconies look out on the street side, but a lot of them have balconies that look out on the courtyard side. There's a lovely courtyard down below. It's big where they have events, music, and barbecue. It was very nicely designed as a structure. There isn't a lot of planting outside, but what they have is very nice. The residents got together and were unhappy with the vegetation so they took over maintaining the gardens. So, there's a great deal of pride in the plantings by the residents.

I had mixed feelings about The Point at Rockridge. The rooms were a little small coming from a three-bedroom condo for my sister. And that was her comment, "The rooms were a little small." She liked that they had two bathrooms, one for the guest. She liked that it was a very bright place. The halls were well-lit. They seemed to have a lot of activities. The residents that we saw all looked like they were happy. The people we met along the way in the halls and in the elevator were very friendly. So, the residents overall were very content with where they were. I would live there.

We chose The Point at Rockridge for my husband because it is very close to our home. I haven't been to many other facilities. From our point of view, this facility is pretty good. It's very clean. My husband's room is a decent size, and it has a kitchenette. There is a decent size bathroom and a balcony. It's very convenient. Everything is provided. It has its own air-conditioning. They have a nice sized library, and it's very well presented. It has a sofa, and it's very comfortable and quiet. They have a lounge on the top floor, and you can see the Golden Gate Bridge or the bay. It's very nice, and it's always open. You can go there any time. It's quiet and clean. They have an exercise room with the machines there, and you can go and use it any time. They provide laundry services once a week. If you have more laundry, you can do it yourself. They have two or three laundry rooms throughout the building, and they're very convenient located. They provide three meals that are all served and are warm. Their food is fresh and the kitchen staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a dining room. They have multipurpose rooms, and they provide all types of activities in that room. They have a backyard garden. It's beautiful, and you can go there any time you want to. Regarding the staff, 95% of them are good, responsive, and friendly. We did meet one staff who was not friendly. They do not have that many activities, but definitely more than enough for my husband. They have a movie theater. Everything is provided. It's like a cruise ship. I really liked it. They have nice big seating rooms on every floor. They have a lounge and an exercise room.
