Complete and total joke of a nursing home. I am not certain how this home earns any rating above two stars. I wish I could give zero stars. First of all, they demanded my mother drop her insurance and be switched to regular Medicare. Why? Because even though her insurance was accepted there, I later learned that they were billing Medicare for services that were reimbursed at a higher rate. This immediately caused my dad to lose his insurance as he was on my mother’s insurance plan. Did they bother to tell us this? No. Now my dad must pay insurance premiums he has never had to pay for over 15 years. Come to find out I spoke to other families about any issues and they all say the same thing! These people are complete con artist to the bone. They have no interest in the well-being of your loved one and will bill the Medicare system for every penny they can. I subsequently learned that they will do evaluations on people who are completely fine and will find the smallest of excuses just so they can be reimbursed at a higher rate. I’m not kidding. They marked my mom as ‘shortness of breath while resting’ and submitted that to Medicare as a reason to bill them higher. They did this 3 times for just my mom. Imagine the others. Secondly, they send everyone to the hospital for minor things knowing that when they return from the hospital they will be placed on a higher-paying stay so that they can be reimbursed more. This place is pure greed to the bone. One of the families let me know that they have submitted a formal request for Medicare to investigate their billing practices. Medicare and Medicaid need to investigate this nursing home and all the others owned by the same group.

My mom was at another facility and was declining rapidly after being there 2 months. She was taken to the Emergency Room and put on a ventilator with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, cellulitis and severe UTI. She was there for rehabilitation following a stroke in December 2021 and lost a significant amount of weight on a feeding tube within 3 weeks of being there. When the hospital discharged her, we went over options for a new rehabilitation facility. The Grand in Chittenango accepted the request. As we got mom settled, each of the therapists assigned to my mom came in to meet her, assessed her condition and spoke with us about the plan of action. She has been there now for two weeks and has greatly improved. The Doctor comes in several days a week and any plan discussed is put into effect that day or the following day. The staff is attentive to her needs, they call me with updates and are always available to speak with me about her treatment plan. The facility is kept clean, the employees follow strict covid guidelines and go above and beyond to ensure her safety there. It''s been nothing thing but a positive experience for us and I can go home at night knowing my mom is in good

It is very clean and things are well taken care of.
