Garnet of Casa Grande invited me for a little happy hour that they were having in their dining area. They were having somebody playing music and they were offering soft drinks, beer, and little appetizers. The problem for me was they had a lot of people there, which was wonderful, but most of them looked to be in their late eighties, or early nineties and not in my age group. I went with my ESA (Emotional Support Animal), my dog, and was advised when I got there, "I'm sorry you can't take your dog into the dining area.", which surprised me. The lady said that was against Arizona law, and I've taken her to restaurants everywhere I go. Even my doctor's offices and my dentist. So, that kind of surprised me. They kept her in the front office with somebody while I was in the dining area, which kind of concerned me because I don't like being separated from her if I don't have to. The place looked like it was well-maintained. It was clean and airy. The people that were serving and the social director all seemed to be very, very nice and very friendly. They spoke to a lot of the residents as they were handing them their beverages or little snacks and called them mostly by name. The residents all seemed quite happy and quite content. So as far as that goes, that was fine. It just didn't fit what I was looking for.

My husband will be doing respite care at The Garnet of Casa Grande. I had a very positive impression of the place. It was an excellent facility. We saw 4 different apartments, and they were all very nice. The staff who assisted us gave us an excellent tour. She was nice. She wasn't trying to push us towards something. The dining area was lovely with lots of windows and table linens. It looked very nice. The residents were doing bingo while we were there. They had church on Sunday. They had a library and areas where you can play cards and do crafts. Everything seemed very clean and very nice.

My mom is moving in today at The Garnet of Casa Grande. They were very helpful when we walked in. Priscilla was very helpful and she showed us the facility and the rooms. Everything was nice and clean, and the residents there looked very happy. The apartment she was moving into was nice and clean. We had to provide everything, but it's the perfect size for her. It had a refrigerator, a shared bathroom, a sink, and a microwave. They have a lot of games, and just a lot of different activities on different days. They have people come in and do things with them and they have it on the board where the activities are done for the week. They have a billiard area.

The Garnet of Casa Grande was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. I've had residents come up to us and tell us how wonderful it was. They have a nice restaurant-style serving area for food. They have a lot of different activities going on. They have a great big pool. The apartments were nice looking. They're very clean. I like the fact that they were wide open enough that if you're using a walker and stuff, you don't have to trip over things. Doors are spaced enough that you can get a walker through if you have to. The spacing of the apartments was nice. The staff was very nice. The whole place looked really good. I was very impressed with it. I was kind of hesitant about mentioning anything to my mom about it and she brought it up to me as soon as I mentioned that I had gone to see that, she said she'd heard good things about it, too, so she's very interested in going there herself. I was very impressed with it. My husband and I were talking about joining them when we get old enough. They have a TV hookup in the apartments. They provide cable, so you just provide your TV and stuff. There was no phone service, but my mother had a cell phone. They had a little kitchenette-type thing, a small refrigerator, and a microwave, but they serve food, so you can have snacks up there. They have shelving and cupboards and all kinds of things. I like the deck. They had a deck off the room that we'd seen. I'm highly recommending my mom get one of those because it has a long deck that you share, but you're looking at the outside. They had a lot of activities, too. They have a game room where they have a shuffleboard, pool, chess, and a couple of other things. They have workout rooms. They have some kind of like bike and treadmill and stuff like that. They do water aerobics in the pool.

I have friends at The Garnet of Casa Grande. It's heaven there. They serve delicious three meals a day. It's everything that you would want, better than where I'm at, and they provide transportation. Some of my friends are in assisted living there and one is still independent. They come in and clean for you and you eat your meals in a beautiful dining room. They said they could switch you over with no problem to assisted living. You could stay where you are except someone comes and takes care of you. I've eaten there quite a few times and it's like home cooking. There's a menu and you pick what you want. They have a big pool and pool activities. It's just a fantastic place. They have a minibus and they take people to their churches on the weekends, to doctors' appointments, and shopping. I heard that the staff is wonderful and very helpful. It's spotless there and the apartments were extremely large. The facility was very well maintained. I was surprised when I found out how old it was. I would want to live there, but unfortunately, I can't afford to. I was invited there by the staff for a lot of the activities. Every holiday, like Valentine's Day or Halloween, they have parties. We would attend to everything that was going on. They had all kinds of food, finger food, and drinks, and it was just wonderful. They give you this gigantic walk-in closet and you can store things in there as well as all your clothes.
