Everything was very nice at Holiday The Fairmont. The size of the apartment was adequate. I had lunch with them and it was pleasant. I've met some of the residents. The food was good. The staff gave me a tour and showed me the apartments. They have a plan where you can go to other Holiday places in the country. They have these facilities all over the country. If you want to go visit somebody down in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Georgia, or Dallas, Texas, or whatever, you can go for a week or two, you just have to get on their list. I liked that aspect of it. The price was reasonable, but I'm not ready for anything like that quite yet. It was a nice place. Everybody seemed pleasant and they had a lot of activities and things to do. They had a game room and a very small gym. Somebody comes in a couple of times a week and plays piano at different times during the day in the big lobby. They have a movie room. Each unit has its own small kitchen. They have a big kitchen that's fully furnished and if you want to, you can schedule to use that if you have guests coming to visit you and you want to prepare a special meal or whatever. It's not really adequate to do major cooking in the units, but you don't need to do that much cooking when you live there. It's an older facility and I think they're trying to do apartments one at a time as they come available. They could freshen up the apartments a little bit, but they're bigger and roomier than they are in a lot of the places.

My father-in-law has moved into Holiday The Fairmont. It was conveniently located near our home in Manassas. We met with several other facilities, but we received such a warm welcome at this facility. Terry, the director, was just so kind and spent time with us. We didn't feel rushed. She invited us back for lunch and she explained the whole process wonderfully. It's independent living, but they have services offered through outside resources that the director provides to the community member so that they can reach out and get the support that they need. Onsite, they do laundry service if you would like it. They have housekeeping and they do three meals a day. They always have coffee and tea. They make fresh baked goods. The food is fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly. They genuinely care about the people that are there. You can see the way that they interact with all of the members of the community and their family and friends that come to visit. It's just a really warm place. They have a fantastic library. They do different scheduled activities. They have a movie theater. They have activities where they go out into the community. They'll take you to the grocery store. They'll take people out to lunch sometimes if they all want to go out to lunch together instead of eating at the facility. It's low cost, but you get a lot for the price that you're paying.
