I was very pleased with The Crest at Citrus Heights. I loved it. I loved Lyn. She was a dream. I couldn't ask for anybody better. She explained everything, showed everything, and she had a delightful personality. The tour was outstanding, and the place was gorgeous. It had everything that anybody could want. I wanted a 2-bedroom apartment, but she didn't have one available to show me. But she did show me a studio and a 1-bedroom apartment. It had a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, and a very small kitchen. For someone that would want a studio, that would be fine. They had a beautiful and humongous courtyard with chairs, sofas, and tables. In fact, in one of the courtyards, there was even a turkey and some little ones.

They play games like bingo etc. a beauty parlor. If you need anything looked at they come and take of it. I have a 5x5 walk in closet when you come in, my living area a bedroom and bath. A housekeeper that mops my floors on Mondays. All the floors are hard wood. The window in my living room is almost floor to ceiling. A porch in the bedroom. They stopped meals because they want it to be independent living. I really like living here if you want to do activities they have them. They don't push you into anything. You don't get any noise from the outside and neighbors. I'm very happy here. They are making changes to update to up date the facility. Doors are locked at 4pm we all have keys to get in.
Read moreI picked this community because of the pricing, amenities, and location. I am so disappointed. If you want to pay more for an apartment without senior amenities such as food, medical alert, desk service and limited activities etc then this is the place for you.
This facility is horrible. They took away meals from seniors with no warning. And not enough credit to get meals for yourself. Just horrible!! No way to treat seniors! They did the same thing at their other community in Carmichael… just awful!
I would not recommend Crest as a residence for an aging parent. Clearly they have little regard for the needs of the elderly. Crest announced on 3/1/23 that on 4/1/23 they were no longer serving meals. This is one of the primary reasons Crest was chosen as a residence. Because of this policy change...

Crest announced on 3/1/23 that on 4/1/23 they were no longer serving meals. This is one of the primary reasons Crest was chosen as a residence. Because of this policy change my mother had to move to another facility.

I went to see The Crest at Citrus Heights independent living. The staff also showed me what they have there and showed me that if my mom's level of independence changed, she'd be able to stay in the same place. They don't all have walk-in showers, but she showed me that their higher level of care all had walk-in showers. They're doing some renovations at crest so they had some construction going on. They've got a lot of things available and they have a lot more planned activities available than the other places I saw, so I liked that. It's an older building, but they were doing a lot of renovating so they're changing the carpet to lower pile and putting linoleum in planes that were low floors. So it's easier to walk on and get around, and they're changing a bunch of stuff in the apartments. The staff was nice, as we were walking through, they seemed to know all their residents by name. They let the people do personal things to their doorways and entryways, so that was cool if you want to decorate on holidays and stuff like that. And the fact that the residents get to have their pets as long as they take care of it, so it was good. It was still clean even though older, and they're modernizing it. Parking was easy for them, and they have a lot of really beautiful courtyards, so that was nice. And when the weather permits, you could be out walking around on the grounds, it's safe but not cooped up, and they have walking paths. They had a lot of great activities for the residents, like book clubs, and exercise classes, and they encouraged them to get out. They do all kinds of things available for all different tastes.
