The Country House in Westchester: Life, Refreshed
There’s a tangible air of rejuvenation at The Country House in Westchester, an assisted living community surrounded by towering trees, serene ponds and blue skies. That theme continues inside — large windows invite warm sunshine, tall ceilings lend the common spaces a refreshing openness, and tasteful decorations impart an upscale yet comfortable vibe. The lifestyle here echoes that airy feeling — residents spend time tending their plants in the greenhouse, chatting with friends in the beauty salon, strolling the lush walking trails and enjoying refreshing breezes in the courtyard. They also love gathering in the elegant dining room for three locally sourced, chef-prepared meals a day; resident favorites include the Cuban sandwich, the chicken piccata and the carrot cake.
The Country House in Westchester provides an engaging events calendar, with options like painting classes in the studio, exercise sessions in the fitness center, live entertainment from visiting artists and themed resident socials. Of course, with complimentary transportation, seniors get plenty of chances to explore the area, too. The natural beauty of FDR State Park is in their backyard, while the Lincoln Depot Museum and the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater provide cultural opportunities.

We are very pleased with the Country House. Mom is a recent new resident. The staff and residents have been very welcoming and accommodating to her (and us) during this time of adjustment. Sean Culhane was fantastic in offering a couple of orientation-style visits for Mom. He was also very reassuring to my wife and I as we were extremely nervous about the transition. Sean put our anxieties at ease with his experience and confidence.

Read moreHorrible place. Do not use unless you really don’t care. I never agree with my sisters but on this we all agree. The country house contributed to my mother’s passing.
My mom was a resident there. WAS. She was ignored and her whole disposition changed and staff was too busy to notice. I visited her and didn’t even recognize her. I called 911, and she died 5 days later in the hospital. This is not assisted living. I would call it assisted dying.

My mother was a resident there until June of 2022. I do not believe that my mother received good care. I was never invited to attend a care plan meeting which might have helped me identify when my mother''s decline started happening. The staff was not very attentive, especially just before she was transferred out emergently, at my sister''s insistence. The staff on duty refused to call 911 for my mother although her level of consciousness had changed drastically from her baseline. She was sitting in the lobby at the time, completely slumped over in her chair and was not responsive. My sister called 911 on her own after staff acted unsure and made phone calls to various supervisors/administrators. As stated, my sister called 911 and my mother was subsequently admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital. My complaint is not that my mother got sick but the staff''s response to her getting ill and refusal to call 911 for an obviously very ill woman. I would not recommend placing your loved ones in this facility.

From what I saw, the staff seemed friendly and nice to the people who were there. The outside was beautiful, but the inside needed a little bit of work, like by the bedrooms.
