Having recently moved to the Palm Beach area, we decided to look into moving my husband’s mother from a facility in North Carolina to be near us. We found The Capstone at Royal Palm, toured the facility and available rooms, and immediately set the wheels in motion. Capstone is beautiful from the moment you drive up. Clean, open spaces, and full of truly friendly, helpful, engaged employees. The Director, Ms Lewis pays personal attention to each of the residents and her staff. It is readily apparent that her warmth, knowledge, and hands on style of management has a wonderful effect on the entire facility. My mother in law is so happy to be moved into her own apartment at Capstone, complete with kitchen and walk in closet. She is discovering new things each day, like the outside garden area where residents can put their green thumbs to work. She also truly enjoys the food each day. We love having her so close now, but mostly are thrilled at how she has taken to living at Capstone.

The price was definitely a great deal, every other community in the area was significantly higher then the price here so it is very reasonable.

My husband is in The Capstone at Royal Palm right now. I'm not sure it would be a suitable one for him because he is mostly in bed. He's in memory care, and most of the residents there are not so much in bed. He is in bed pretty much and wants to be almost the whole day, but he's got different problems than most of them. We're just feeling our way right now because he has only been here a little over a week. They're getting to know him and hopefully, he's getting a little more comfortable there. I think this facility is good, but I'm just not sure it's the best for him. The place is beautiful. It's very clean and very modern. It's only been here for a year. They seem to have adequate help. They have quite a few aides and the nurses are really around the clock. Then they have the nursing supervisor and she's been very helpful and very good. However, in some ways, they're a little bit lax because I notice they have a little machine to check in when you go in the door, but it doesn't work most of the time. The staff seems to be quite good. They have a nurse supervisor also on duty. If I call, I usually get through to talk to them pretty easily. They have several aides. However, the food is horrible. It's so bad. My husband is in a bad weight right now and he's not eating. When they bring the food, I'm looking at it and try it, and last night they brought them like corned beef. Why would they give all these old people corned beef? It was so salty. Plus, I took a bite of it, and it was full of fat. It is just bad. The building is very beautiful and very clean. And there's certainly more than ample space. They have activities, and I'm sure that in assisted living, they have a lot more. They have a big calendar every day. They say my husband is not partaking in everything. They seem to have ample activities; it is not working out for him so well. When I went in there, they gave me a price, and then they had to do levels to see all the extra assistance that he was going to require. And when we got all done with that, that was like an extra $2000 a month. However, I don't feel he's getting $2000 a month's worth of extra care. They have several courtyards, but they don't have a pool.

Choosing the perfect assisted living facility for your mother, is one of the most difficult tasks a child can face. After visiting CAPSTONE, I knew we had a great fit! It's been a year that my mom has been a resident at CAPSTONE and I have never regretted my decision. The staff continues to be welcoming, competent and caring. LaSondra has been a total gem from day one! She is always bright, cheery, encouraging and always eager to help in any way. The entire staff has made this transition just a little easier.

It was very nice. All the people that worked there were very courteous. The room that they showed us that my mom would be staying in was very good. They treated us to lunch there, and their menu was very varied. I think my mom would have probably been alright to stay there if we decided. They showed us two rooms that we had a choice of. One had a door out to the outside and the other one was like an inside room. They were very spacious. The bathroom was large, there was a walk-in shower, they had a small refrigerator and a microwave, and it was all carpeted. They were very nice. As far as the activities, they seemed to have a lot of things for the people to do. We didn't get a chance to see any of them because it was lunchtime, but I could see some people were getting ready to partake in some activities.
