My tour at TerraBella Cramer Mountain was very good. We were we were pleased with them. They did follow up with us after the tour. They do not have Medicaid rooms. My mother has insurance, if she goes in there, when her insurance runs out, we will have to move her. That's why at present we did not go to any of the TerraBella facilities, and they were very nice. They have shared rooms. Memory care is a separate floor. It's all on one level and is on a separate wing.

The tour I had at TerraBella Cramer Mountain provided pertinent information that I would need regarding my father's health and quality of life. The atmosphere was home-like and caring. It is staffed with the appropriate professional level of caregiving. I did not try the food, but I like the idea that the food is chef prepared and ordered per patient instead of cafeteria style.

My mother-in-law has moved into TerraBella Cramer Mountain. She is slowly adjusting though it's taking her a little while. But everything has been fine. I wouldn't say it's excellent, but it's one step below excellent. My mother-in-law's room is great. It's only 292 square feet, but it has double windows, and it overlooks the patio, which is nice. When the weather gets nicer, if she wants to be able to go out there, we'll roll her out there in her wheelchair. The food is good, but sometimes it's not very warm. The atmosphere in the dining room is great though. They have beautiful grounds. Our friend's mom is also there, and a friend of theirs played the piano so it brought more people out, and that was very nice. They have a beauty shop, but we've not used that yet because the lady just quit. They got a nice area called Country Kitchen, and if you want to have like a birthday party and bring family members in, you can go into that room. They also have another sitting room with a fireplace, so if you don't want to sit in their room with them during your visit, you can go into that room, too. We're very happy that we found TerraBella Cramer Mountain because so many people would not return our calls, and we were up against the wall. We couldn't understand what was going on. Everybody said she needs skilled nursing and we can't handle that. And when we go to TerraBella Cramer Mountain and talked to the lady there just for an interview, she said if my mother-in-law doesn't have a tube or if she's not on oxygen or that kind of thing, that's not considered skilled nursing. So my mother-in-law is just basically assisted living.

TerraBella Cramer Mountain looked fine to us. We walked through the facility, and it was clean. When the time comes for my sister-in-law to actually go to a nursing facility, they would definitely be on our list. I like the staff the best. They were very helpful, answered all of our questions, and were friendly. It looked like the whole staff was on the same page and working as a team. We saw the area where the residents were watching TV and walked through the dining area. The facility was not quite as modern as some of the other places.

My sister and I both went and toured TerraBella Cramer Mountain. We looked at assisted living and memory care. We felt that it was very welcoming, and we were impressed coming into the assisted living. There was significant difference between assisted living and memory care; some of that they can't help because memory care is a whole different ballgame. It seems depressing, looking from one which looked so good or promising to the other, which seemed just so deflating. They were in the process of doing some renovations, but I don't know if they were in the memory care unit. I do know that they were going through a period of doing some upgrades to some rooms and things, which was nice. It wasn't anything against them, it's just kind of the nature of the way some memory care units have to be because of the nature of what they're dealing with. There were some things that were nice, like they have an outdoor area where they can take the patients, but it is still enclosed, safe, and everything. They have activities like ice cream socials and things where family can come and spend time and all. So it wasn't anything negative about what they're doing for their patients, it's just the difference in the environment; moving from one section to the next. At the time, we weren't really sure what we would be looking at because my mother has dementia, but she has not been evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist or anything like that. But it's just her mother had it, her brother had it, her sister had it, and now she's got it, and I think "we have experience." But it's like nobody has ever really gone through and had her "certified" with it. Because of that situation, and my dad has congestive heart failure, so we don't really know what would be the best situation if we get to that point where they were going to be somewhere. It was convenient because it was closer to where we live at Cramerton. The person who led the tour was very friendly. The residents that were in the assisted living area seemed like they were happy and doing well. I was impressed with the dining room and the way they do their meals and things like that. Like I told my sister coming out, I said, "If anything happens to me, I can live here." But yeah, the assisted living and memory care both were things we're looking at because of the situation. As far as I can tell, the activities were for everybody, and they have a calendar posted of the types of activities that are going on during the day for the different groups, to let them know what to expect. For example, a loved one is coming in to visit and it lets them know what's going on day to day, that kind of thing, too. I thought they did a good job on that. We didn't try the food, but we saw the chef and they call him the singing chef because he sings in the kitchen. But as far as looking at the food offerings and the way they have it set up regarding daily entrees, it was a nice setup. They also have like a side menu that's available all the time if they aren't interested in what was offered that particular day for the entrees. I thought they did a good job with all that.
