July 2022 This was a Sunrise until a month ago. We were very happy with Sunrise. Staff were lovely, constant communication from the ED and staff,so very important during this challenging time. Since becoming a Cogir, 3 staff have left and we’ve had little to no communication from ANYONE. What communication we’ve had has been poorly written ,unclear and defensive.Of note, the photos Cogir has for the San Rafael site are not OF the site.They may be photos of SOME Cogir venue but not of the Merrydale address. I’m hoping against hope that after 5 years, we won’t have to move our mom.If we do, we will go to the nearest SUNRISE facility.

Our dad moved into Sunrise at the end of March and we have been delighted. Nate, Tim, Sue, Noel, Ditter (and others) insured a smooth transition from his previous community. When he first arrived, he was given a warm welcome by all the staff gathered to greet him. He loves his roomy, bright one bedroom apartment where he can view Marin''s hills. He is meeting new people and joining in the activities. Sunrise not only cares about the physical health of its residents, but emphasizes emotional well being. We are happy he is safe but also very grateful that he is enjoying his life.
Read moreMy aunt has lived here for several years. Every time I visit her the staff was great! Very loving and caring! The residents of Sunrise of San Rafael are very well taken care of and they have great food and lots of activities. I was always pleased to see how well run things are there.
