Exceptional Senior Living on Long Island: Sunrise of Holbrook
Sunrise of Holbrook, an assisted living and memory care community on Long Island, holds a Silver National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Take a tour, and it’s not hard to see why — the exterior boasts a warm, coastal style, while the interior features a 24-hour bistro with a jukebox, inviting apartment homes and cozy, light-filled common areas. Residents here enjoy taking strolls along the shaded walking paths, feeling fit in the Laughter Yoga Club and grabbing popcorn to catch a feature on movie nights.
They also get lots of opportunities to experience the area’s natural beauty. Great Patchogue Lake, Blue Point Nature Preserve and Corey Beach are just five minutes away, while the Long Island Maritime Museum and Bayard Cutting Arboretum are within 10 minutes. Seniors love eating out at local restaurants; BrickHouse Brewery and Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue are favorites.
Sunrise of Holbrook: Assisted Living and Memory Care
Enabling this carefree lifestyle is the compassionate staff at Sunrise of Holbrook. They’re there 24 hours a day to take care of housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). In addition, through Sunrise CareConnect, residents can set up their individualized care plan and alter it at any time as needs change.
The Reminiscence Memory Care Program is an award-winning, long-term care option for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Residents live in a separate neighborhood designed with easy-to-navigate spaces and familiar, calming sights, sounds and smells that reduce anxiety. Each senior works with a Life Enrichment Manager who uses Validation Therapy and other Alzheimer’s Association-approved techniques to meet these individuals’ unique social, physical, mental and spiritual needs.

My father lived at Sunrise of Holbrook for almost 2 years until his passing. He received excellent care throughout. The director of the community, Kathy, is very involved with residents and their families. The nurses and caregivers cared so well for my Dad as if he was a member of their own families. The staff members here are a close knit group- everyone looks out for one another. The caregivers will help all of the residents, regardless if that resident is assigned to them or not. I felt confident that my Dad was in the right place, and I never worried about him not getting the proper care. I recommend Sunrise of Holbrook over and over again, and am so happy that this is the community that we chose for my Dad.

I would say the caring nature of the staff is the huge positive at Kent Regency. Whether it was the RN, the CNA, or another staff member, each person has treated my father and our family with kindness and respect. The facility is also clean and the receptionist checking in visitors is lovely. Overall, I highly recommend Kent Regency for rehab and/or the end of life process.

I had an an appointment with Kris and made sure I was on time. The person that greeted me deserves 5 stars! She was welcoming and enthusiastic shared what was going on with this facility. I feel badly that I don’t remember her name. She said he would be right with me and I should have a seat. I waited no more than 15 minutes. He introduced himself and then ushered me to an outside vestibule. It was cold and not professional. Then he had a sheet of paper in front of him that he was folding, trying to conceal the contents from me. This made me feel very uncomfortable. Then I got the feeling from the conversation since he was talking about the cost that he didn’t want us there. That, in my opinion was strike three. He had no idea what our financial situation is which is fine with me as I have taken my mom to an awesome place somewhere else!!!!
