Do What You Love at Sunrise of Danville
At Sunrise of Danville, a senior living community in Contra Costa County in central California, residents spend their days doing what they love. For some, that means grabbing a coffee and strolling the well-manicured grounds before heading for a midday meal at a local restaurant with the “Lunch Bunch.” For others, it’s curling up in the library with a new book, listening to the piano in the parlor and petting the resident cat and dog, Hazel and Hansen. Of course, there are always organized activities, too. The enthusiastic staff makes sure the mind, body and spirit are nourished with various activities like painting classes, noodle mania, riddles and word games, beach ball volleyball and short story readings.
Residents go on field trips regularly, like nature excursions to Mt Diablo State Park, scenic bus rides and outings to Danville Library, Danville Farmers’ Market, Danville Senior Center and Broadway Plaza. Several first-class medical facilities are also in the area, including John Muir Health, San Ramon Regional Medical Center, and Stanford Health Care–ValleyCare Medical Center.
The dining at Sunrise of Danville is always fresh, diverse and flavorful. Meals are prepared on-site, with more than 65 different fruits and vegetables used in a typical monthly menu, from Florida oranges to California avocados. Pureed diets are available and made from whole foods for residents who need it. Health and wellness are always a priority, so chefs meet with residents and medical staff to customize a plan that considers their unique nutritional needs, whether for diabetes, weight loss or high blood pressure.

This is where I’d feel confident that my parents are staying here. This is a wonderful place to live.

Sunrise of Danville was gorgeous. I would move there myself. It appeared to be very good. They have a locked-down facility. They're very, very nice. It's really beautiful, it's supportive, it's friendly, and it's safe. You can't get much better. Some of the rooms were small if it was a single person, but they have rooms for two people. What was kind of nice is that if you were married or something, you could have a shared room. The food looked nice where they eat. They had a piano, which was kind of nice. They had it set up for videos to watch movies and things. Everybody was very nice. The dining area looked like a small restaurant. Everybody seemed pretty happy. Some people appeared to be friends sitting at the same table. The staff was great, very pleasant, friendly, and obliging to the residents. They seemed to know most of the residents and say hello, good morning, or whatever. It was impeccable. Everything was perfectly clean. They have a beautiful outdoor sitting area with flowers, etcetera, and a table where you could sit if you wanted to.

The ED and staff are very proactive communicators and demonstrate a lot of sensitivity to my mom''s situation, as well as to the family''s concerns. I have nothing but great things to say about them.
They are dedicated to providing care and support to their residents and their families. They help make the transition to assisted living a very positive experience.

I have had problems with sunrise since I moved in! The Walnut Creek location scared me because the caretakers would yell at me for not eating my carrots. They didn''t realize I was allergic. One caretaker named William kept coming into my room at 2 am and force feeding me the carrots. He would also refuse to change my diaper. I hadn''t had any good experiences until I moved onto the Danville location. Atleast I wasn''t being assaulted!
