my elderly sister (76) has been in a lock down unit there for several years. In the past 8 months she has had multiple falls that went untreated. Yesterday she supposedly fell and broke her hip, pelvis, femur & Tibia. According to the hospital, this is highly suspect.

Terrible place to work. Healthcare workers are continuously short staffed at this specific facility and Athena does nothing to fix that. Even with agency healthcare workers in the building they are short. The facility offers no repercussions to Peoples repeated callouts or patient neglect. I have never felt so stressed while working at a facility like I do here. A piece of advice: keep your family/loved ones far away from any Athena owned facility. I have worked with them full-time once before at the start of the pandemic and they are extremely shady. On top of that, they have a track record of not paying their employees or the agencies that are staffing their facilities. 3/28/22 UPDATE: So then the facility calls my agency to make me a “DNR” (do not return) because of the original review that I left. Just another perfect example of why this cooperation is terrible and shady. Did you know that this specific facility has paid over $18,000.00 in fines to the state of CT for an unsafe, and/or uncleanly environment. Don’t believe me… It’s all public record. I have a right to leave an honest review so employees and residents can make an educated decision as to if this is a facility they want to work or live. The fact that Athena does not like what I have to say and is trying to shut me down by placing me as a DNR at the facility is a prime example of why they should not be trusted by employees and by residents/residents family members. The only good Athena owned building I have ever worked at is Valerie Manor in Torrington Connecticut. They are a well oiled machine. If you want a nice and affordable facility consider Valerie Manor. But at all cost, STAY AWAY FROM THE SUMMIT AT PLANTSVILLE.

I was Horrified by the treatment of the elderly patients, they were left alone, dirty, uncared for, calling for help and ignored. I am scarred forever by what I saw and how it ended. When she was brought to the hospital the doctor said she was severely dehydrated with malnutrition and that she never should have gotten that bad. She died a day later in hospice, this is the highest form of elder abuse from a place that''s supposed to keep them safe. They were also investigated by the state for many infractions. I only hope someone reads this and they dont make the same mistake I did.

He got to the facility without covid and was transported to the hospital two days later... covid positive. The place is not pretty, foyer was filled with boxes and no one seems to know what they''re doing. Super disappointed. Make sure you get the names of those working with your loved one and follow their care.
