My mother has been at Strake over a year now and we like it, mostly. It is very expensive. There has been some staff turnover but most of the staff have been the same since she came. The staff has been receptive to us when we have had concerns. They are pleasant when we visit and the food is good. I have heard some residents say they wish there was more to do than just play Bingo but I do see a schedule posted every month of goings on in the building, I''m not sure how many residents participate. We enjoy sitting outside on the patio when the weather permits. My mother was an avid gardener when she was able and I wish there was a waist high garden container for the residents to have gardening opportunities. There are pumpkins sat about in the courtyard this time of year; it looks nice and there are seasonal flowers that are planted. My mother enjoys the spinning art. I do wish a little more care was given to the outside areas though, and for a senior living place the doors to the courtyard should be automatic or open with the push of a button. It is difficult for older people using a walker or wheelchair who are unsteady on their feet anyway to open the doors to go outside with a pneumatic tension device trying to close the door. I think more of the residents would use the patio if it were easier to get out there. There are piles of dirty rags, empty flower pots, a bird bath that''s not kept clean, some bird houses that are falling apart and yesterday there were cigarette butts on the patio. The tables don''t look like they are kept wiped down for the residents to use so I have to clean them myself when we want to use them. Over all, I like Strake Place for my mother. This is an update from our experience at Strake Court. (formerly Strake Place) They have a new social director who has offered more variety of activities for the residents. My mother has become more active and has made some friends even though she suffers with her memory loss. There are beautiful seasonal flowers planted in the front of the facility but not in the courtyard where the residents can enjoy them.

Read moreAll 5 stars. The staff at Strake Court takes the time to know and understand your loved one. They are kind, helpful, and caring. The size of the facility was just right. It wasn't too big or small. They offered physical therapy there as well.
The best part about the Strake Court community were the people. The staff members were wonderful when handling our loved ones dementia. At times she was often difficult but the staff handled her with patience and respect.
I can't say enough good things about the staff at Strake. They are the most loving, and caring group. My mother receives personalized care like she never received in the 2 other communities she lived in.
