My grandmother recently almost spent a week here at this facility and it was terrible. Both my mother and I are in the medical field. We know there’s labor shortages and laughable pay, however that is no excuse for staffing to not do their job and provide sub-par care. St Gertrude’s is supposed to be the first stop on the road to recovery. A very important stop! What a joke! The bed was broken initially. The tv’s in the shared rooms were linked. No AC in the rooms. My grandmother would press the call button several times and never get any help. We’ve had to clean her up ourselves because no one had bothered to check her behind after using the bathroom. A light bulb had shattered and they left the glass on the floor and never bothered to replace the bulb. Her inhalers were never passed to her at least twice. Major attitude from the charge nurses and the aides. Had to prompt and remind staff several times she needs someone to help her to eat because she is blind. She had weeping wounds from her IV, because her skin is paper thin that they would not bandage no matter how many times we asked, with zero communication as to why it was not being done. An inflection in both wounds occurred because of their lax care. I’ve witnessed staff laughing at other clients who were eloping at the times in the main public area. Exacerbating and contributing to the behaviors. Some of the staff clearly have zero bed side manner skills. All around very unprofessional behavior If you can, avoid letting your loved ones stay here. Because my grandmother was not receiving the car she deserved and needed in order to stay on the road to recovery. I would give this place zero stars if I could and my family and myself will be filling complaints with the appropriate people. We will also be recommending to our organization to not use St Gertrude’s any time soon.

This was our 7th choice of facilities because of the reviews but the other 6 were at capacity. My mom had a stroke and was there for about 5 days before we concluded she was safer at home. We would’ve taken her home earlier but she caught covid from there as there’s an outbreak in the facility. We were told by a staff member this place at times has a 1nurse/18 patient ratio. I witnessed the residents being ignored regularly. One of the staff, not a nurse, wouldn’t even get up to change the tv channel for a man who appeared to be confined to a wheelchair even though he asked multiple times. After pushing her call button for at least an hour for help to get to the bathroom, my mom attempted to get up herself and fell. She had a UTI and couldn’t wait any longer. The staff was aware she fell and said they were sending her for X-rays. I’m not positive that happened because we had to take her to the ER 2 days after we picked her up due to her being in severe pain and found out she had 2 fractured ribs. None of the staff mentioned that. The week before, her roommate found herself in the same situation and had also fallen and injured herself badly. I tried to be understanding because they are so short staffed but my dad made a good point—STOP ACCEPTING PATIENTS WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE THE ABILITY TO CARE FOR THEM. You’re putting the lives of vulnerable people in jeopardy over your greed. They need someone there as soon as they call. The staff should be required to at least check on the patient when they call to see what they need and if it’s not an emergency, help them when you can. How can you determine if they need immediate attention or not if you ignore them? If your loved one can’t walk, don’t send them here.

Worked for the company for about 5 months, during that time it became quickly apparent the administrator doesn’t lead my the companies core values and mission. In the short time I was there more than 60% of the management team turned over. As I was learning, I asked for help understanding or clarification and was told by the executive director that I was taking up too much time, and that by asking questions It showed I didn’t know what I was doing. There is no appreciation for the employees, none of them. This could be a great building, with the right leader. I left with no notice, it became too much and not worth it!

I have never worked for a company with such terrible leadership. Your lucky if you get a lunch break or even get a chance to go to the bathroom. The upper management just piles on more and more work not even allowing an individual who has strong work ethic to end their shift on time. If you want to be over worked, talked down to and underappreciated, work there. From the lack of communication and laziness among management to much much more. I was terminated due to speaking up for employee rights and begging for help. If that is not retaliation, I do not know what is.
