Our family had an in person tour and from everything that we saw and the staff that we met with it, it was an okay tour experience and we just knew that it was not going to be the right place for our loved one.

The people at Spring Hills Singing Woods were very nice, but they want you to pay for two years, and I can't afford that. They still call me and they've dropped stuff off here at my house, invited me to the Halloween and everything, but it's too far and the money is the reason I can't go there. They took us through both assisted living and memory care. The rooms were nice and stuff, but I can't move for two years out-of-pocket. They were nice. It seemed like they had a lot of activities and the people were nice out there. They had ice cream and singing, and people were out with the piano. They had someone to do their hair and they had a therapy room there. The facility looked nice. The rug in the living area didn't look that great, but they were getting ready to replace that. I haven't been down there since then. It's right there on I-48 and there was Myers and they were close to the hospital. The rooms were nice and bright. They talked nicely to the residents. I would have maybe considered it if it was a little bit closer, but I also don't like where they force you to pay for 24 months. That amount of price is too much for somebody to dig out.

Our experience here wasn't great. Several other residents/families felt the same and were looking to move their loved one like we were. I understand the pandemic has played a huge part in added challenges for these facilities, but some of the things were still unacceptable. Meals were served cold a lot of times. Showers weren't being done as frequently as they should have been. My loved one's bathroom was dirty/soiled for 3 days before they cleaned it. The director was hardly ever there. They weren't keeping aides and nurses on duty like they should have been. So many things. I visited at least twice a week and saw these things on a regular basis. I visited around 6pm one day and there wasn't a nurse OR an aide on staff. It was concerning. One evening, my loved one's (who is diabetic) sugar got to an alarming level. They only had an aide there, she called the nurse and the nurse told her that they only give insulin to residents 3x a day and on a set schedule. They were so understaffed and things just weren't being ran as they should. I ended up moving him to another facility. I would not recommend them to family and friends.

They have a high turn over at this community and it can be hard to get a hold of someone at this community. They lost the activities director for a while and now things are starting to pick up. I would be aware because of staffing that you may not get all of the care that you need. You do have to make sure that you are involved and making sure that your loved one is well taken care of. Sometimes they have agency staff come in and they are not there full time so things tend to get overlooked. I would just make sure that you are actively involved.

We toured Spring Hills Singing Woods. The community looks very clean. It was very nice. They greeted us very well. The room that we toured was almost on the small side, but it had a separate little bedroom and a living room area with a little door that went out to a patio, so it was very nice. The staff took us into a room. She went over everything that applied to my sister's needs. She informed us that for assisted living, you had to be there for a year doing the spend down before they would accept the Medicaid waiver. She showed us around the facility and also one of the rooms that were empty while we were there. We were there around 9:30 in the morning, so we didn't see anybody doing activities.
