My dear granny, my "MaMaa", is a patient at this nursing home and so far, I''m pleased with the care they provide ... My precious MaMaa has dementia and alzheimers disease, so she doesn''t recognize most of her family and friends. However I try to find the positive in any situation, so here''s my soapbox for today.. The facility seems to be on top of everything, her physical needs are well taken care of. As with any nursing home, the staff appears outnumbered by the patients and are understandably unable to provide spiritual and emotional support in addition to the physical care they provide. So it''s up to families and volunteers to bring joy, spiritual guidance, activities and camaraderie to our elderly population. We are all going to be in their situation someday, and I feel like we should all make an extra effort to care for our elderly, if we expect the same level of care when we reach our time of geriatric need.
