We placed a deposit for Sopris Lodge at Carbondale, but it's very close to where I live. The manager, Marie, was just very helpful, just a lovely lady. Very useful, helpful, personable, knowledgeable, and willing to work with me. And the facility's very new, and clean. My parents are going to go into assisted living, and the assisted living section was very calming. Not a lot of stimuli, muted colors, and ease of getting around, whereas independent living would be somewhere where I would like to go. Lots of activities, things for very active seniors. But my parents are 89 and it would be too much. I took a studio to get them in there, both of them. So what impressed me was the size of the room. It's not gigantic, but it's very large. It was big enough for them to comfortably have a bedroom. But the bathroom was set up perfectly with a walk-in shower. No glass to hurt them, no things to open. The bathroom was very spacious for them because they'd been having trouble where they live doing their hygiene. So I was sure they would do their hygiene. And they leave the room and go right to a dining room, just right across the hallway, and then a living room. So it was all set up like a large home with that kind of environment, very mellow and calm. This one seems to be well-run. I saw the party room. They had a lounge room, a library, a workout room, and a lovely dining room. And there were people in all of them gathered, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading. And the workout room was right down the hallway with easy access. So that was good.

We're going to be moving my father-in-law into the Sopris Lodge at Carbondale. The staff was extremely friendly, and the directors were wonderful to work with and easy to tell us details and steps as there were many steps that we were not aware of. For the most part, it's bright and it's got lots of beautiful artwork. It looks like a beautiful hotel. The apartments were extremely clean, they were all brand new, and there were lots of storage and bright big windows. They had everything from movie nights, there's some space for him to work on his artwork in the basement, outdoor gardening, patio space outdoors, lots of books in the studio, and plenty of equipment in the gym. We had lunch and it was delicious.
