I toured the community about a month ago. I was greeted the moment I walked in the door by the friendly receptionist. The staff is very friendly. It's an older building, but they are doing a lot of renovations. I saw a few of their renovated apartments, and was very impressed! The apartment was spacious with a huge walk in closet. My mom is excited to be able to sit outside on her patio in the morning while she drinks her coffee. I met a few of the residents, and they seemed happy living there.

I went and toured Renaissance Retirement Center. It was really a step below the other communities that I toured. It needed a lot of work. Several of the rooms had little balconies up front. I saw their dining room, and I saw a model room. They were OK. The model room looked like it had been updated a bit, but it's a bit of a lower scale than the other two facilities I was at. The staff that I met there were all very friendly. They could still improve on the general appearance of the place.

My mom was in Renaissance Retirement Center. It was a horrible place, don't ever go there. The food was horrible, they got rid of their head chef and now it's similar to prison food. They're very, very limited on what they have available. They've cut back everything so there are very, very limited activities available for the patients or the residents. They have a library with about 30 books, that's it, there's nothing else available for their patients or their residents. Some of the staff members were very nice, but most of the good ones have quit and moved on to other jobs because they don't want to pay. I would advise you to be cautious, beware of the major issues at this facility. We had days that she was not being fed, we had days that she was not being given her meds, we had days that she was forced to stay inside of her room for almost three weeks straight, and they didn't do garbage pickup. It was bad, that's why we got her out of there.

My dad has moved into the community for a couple of weeks now. It's really big. The staff is caring. His room is big. The food is good. The kitchen is closed right now due to COVID, but they're bringing the food to the room right now. They have bingo, they go to restaurants, there's a calendar, all the stuff they do and they have a bus. They take you to doctors, the store, and you can get groceries delivered. They need updating, maybe, but they're doing that right now.

I didn't feel that my loved one was getting the care they should be receiving. The community didn't call me when my loved one went out the back door. The community ended up moving my loved one to a sister community due to the "escape". Renaissance moved my loved one with their clothes on their back and their bed here. They lost personal belongings of my loved one in the community, the company did reimburse us for the items missing. I wouldn't recommend this community to anyone.
