Also in my mom's neighborhood she was familiar with and location close to family.I think if [name removed]was the manager it would run much better. I know they were in the middle of a big remodel which caused chaos but after talking to other children if residents, the cleaning and food has always been a problem. Nice wait staff in the dining hall though.

I moved into Holiday Parkwood Estates Independent Living. The grounds are very nice, pretty. Everything looks pretty nice. It's well laid out and easy to get around. It has a kind of a private feel from the street. Right now they're kind of short-staffed. And so we were promised that we could go somewhere on the shuttle bus or that they would be cleaning our rooms once a week, well that hasn't happened because they just don't have enough staff. But the staff that I've met have been very nice. The activities are not very interesting to me, but I know that some of the residents here really like them. They have indoor bocce ball, balloon volleyball, and crafting classes, and occasionally someone comes in to sing, or they have sing-alongs. There are a couple of pianos that you can play if you want. They have a knitting circle, one lady hosts a chat, and they have bingo at least once a week. They have plant potting activity. Every day there's an exercise class in the morning. The food's pretty good, considering its not restaurant quality, but it's about what I would expect for a modest, affordable retirement home. There's no frozen food. They have fresh rolls and there's a large variety of food. On the menu, there's always a healthy option that tells you exactly how many calories it is. One of the things that take it from a five to a four is the fact that there are places in the building that always smell like pee. Also, the fact that they don't pay their staff enough so that they're short-staffed. But that's not the issue for the facility, that's an issue for corporate.

Everything was pretty clean. They have three restaurant-style meals. They have specials and an a la carte menu. The staff members were very friendly. They seemed to know the residents' names and personal details about the people and their families. So, it had a pretty homey atmosphere to it.
