I took Mom to Parkside Assisted Living & Memory Care for respite care. It was clean. The rooms were unfinished and there was no homey look at all to it and had not anything to be desired in it. They never gave mom any of the meds that had to go with her. She did not get any of them. The whole time she was there, she came back with the same amount as she went with. She was wounded by one of the people that took care of her there. He helped put mom into bed and grabbed her leg so hard that his nails went through her skin. So she had to be under wound care. They did little trivia-type games and little things like that, but they didn't include everybody. The food was not good. They need to hire someone who is knowledgeable about taking care of older people. They should just be more equipped to handle people with with needs.

We did a tour of Parkside Assisted Living & Memory Care. When we went in we were met by the concierge; she was very polite. We had a seat and waited for the director, who then went through everything about the facility, and then she gave us a tour. It was extremely clean. We met the chef. She showed us both types of rooms and how the family can come in and have private gatherings as opposed to the public gatherings. There was a nice outdoor area that was screened in with a view of the lake, and there were ducks there. They do have pets. Overall, I thought it was very welcoming. It wasn't noisy. We went to the kitchen, the residents were eating, and the chef was right there explaining everything to them and greeted us. I thought it was very clean, it smelled good, and everybody looked really happy. It's one big room, and it has the closets and a full bathroom, walk in shower, and everything. They had a linen closet, and they had two dressers in there. This one was just a studio room. It was very clean and nice, and all the aides and everybody were very polite and accommodating. I liked the size of the rooms and the way they were laid out. The staff was very nice and came up and greeted me. They respond when someone walks in the room and greets them and were there for the residents as well.

They all work hard to help with any concern and work hard to entertain and assist those with different conditions and stages in their life. What a challenging position. We picked this community because we needed to act immediately and it was close by. It's nice check it out.
