Park Lane Estates was a little rundown, and the room was very small. My dad didn't like the people he met. When we left, he said, "I hate that place. I'm not going to live there." That was my first choice because of the location. It's off in a nice little valley kind of area. I felt that if he left that place, he wouldn't get lost. The dining area was right in the center of the whole place and it seemed to have older-style furniture. It's like grandma decorating. It didn't seem to fit my father as far as what he liked, but it smelled good. I always pay attention to how things smell. I felt that the staff was rushed even though we had an appointment. They weren't very nice and kind of sour. I don't know why, but they were very abrupt. During our interview, there was someone who was using a call button and one of the nurses said to the other nurse, "Don't we have these other two ladies? Where are they?" She said, "They're sitting at the table." They didn't seem to be responsive and that turned me off. If my dad was trying to get a hold of them and pressing a button, I would hope that somebody would get to him. They also weren't very good at answering the phone. There were four people and nobody answered the phone. The phone just rang and rang. It's an adequate facility. It seemed to have value for the price of it because it's $1000 less than the one we placed dad at, but at the end of the day, my dad has to like it. I want him to know that he's being well cared for. The dining area had old wood-style chairs and tables. It was like a grandma's place and older people might like that, but my dad likes modern stuff. The kitchen looked very small, but they don't have a lot of people there. You can just come in and go out the entrance. When we came in, there was a podium-type desk in the front, and I was there for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. I was walking around the whole place. They could improve on their decor and update it. Their staff could at least smile. I understand that people were wearing masks, but there was a point where we did take off masks, so I could see their faces. If they would just be a little bit more pleasant. Pleasantness goes a long way.

We visited Park Lane Estates. They showed me a one-bedroom, which is what I would prefer, but I don't know if I have the funding. The studio was very small. The nurse that showed us around was very knowledgeable. I saw all the common spaces and they're very nice. They have a piano and a jigsaw puzzle area. She showed us a menu and it looked very healthy and very good. They have allowances for vegetarians. Whatever kind of eating you prefer, they will try to cater to it. They have a porch on the front and they had some chairs out there. I have a scooter and it's a very rural area. It would be quite a ways to go to a restaurant or a cafe or anything like that, but they provide rides if you want to go to the grocery store. They have a little grocery store in Preston and they also have a health clinic and they provide transportation there also, but if you go anywhere else, you have to provide your own transportation. We only met the one that gave us the tour. The lady that was supposed to meet with us and have the tour wasn't available. They have a beauty shop in the winter. It was very clean and well-maintained.
